Considering Suicide

I was electrocuted in 2002 and the nerves were fried in the soles of both of my feet. I do not have diabetes but I do have debilitating neuropathy in the soles of both feet. The Lyrica no longer provides relief. I have spent many long hours at night trying to get some sleep while I feel like I am standing in boiling oil and having nails driven into the soles of my feet. I would normally never consider taking my own life but sometimes when I am enduring this severe pain, I am unable to think clearly and I have come close to taking that irreversible step. I currently take 1,500 mg of Lyrica in AM and 750 mg at night. No physician will prescribe these amounts for me so I am always running out and waiting in agony for the next refill. I may not be alive when you read this. The pain has devastated my life and my will has been weakened greatly.

hang on. i know the pain you are in is worse than i can imagine.

i'm here for you. do you want to go into the chatroom?

I am really sorry to hear about your pain.

Believe me many people here including myself, probably entertained the thoughts you have now, as initially it may seem hopeless. I had a very sudden and severe onset of bodywide PN and I thought at that time that hell couldn't be as bad as this. I have improved alot, and so have many, so there is much hope for you also.

It doesn't sound as you are getting the care that you need form your GP,hospital or specialist. First, you need to get this pain under control, so you can think clearly, and that will enable you to make some concise decisions regarding the management of your health.

It is important that you go to a hospital and tell them what you are feeling, and they can give you some pain relief and hopefully refer you to some sort of pain management.

Alternativly try to find A GP you like and trust ASAP,and tell him what you are feeling.

You need help, and there is hope,so please hold on.

You have come to the right place for support, and you will find many friends here who felt and feel what you are feeling.

But first you need to get pain under control,as pain doesn't allow us to think clearly and make proper choices.

Please post back as soon as you can to advise is you went to the hospital or saw a doctor.

Please, don't do this...

This is definitely a solution to ending your pain, but it is an awfully final one... Please rethink this. There are physicians who can help you with some pain relief, you just have not found them yet. With the help of people in this forum, you may be able to get some ideas and/or referrals to people who can help you.

Anyone who is suffering as you describe, needs to have a physician who is much more responsive to your pain needs. You should never, ever have to suffer like this waiting for refills! And if this is not working for you, he/she should be hustling up something else to give you some relief.

In our area, we have pain managment clinics where most of these physicians are much more agressive than your regular doctor or neurologist in attempting to help people obtain relief ... If you are no longer getting relief from Lyrica, there are other medications, or even combinations of meds that can be prescribed. It may be that your pain is so severe that you will need straight pain medication. Has anyone tried anything other than Lyrica for you?

I hope you will respond to the people in this forum. We would like very much to be able to help, if we can.

My thoughts will be with you tonight and I hope we will see you post again very soon...

Cathie

electrocuted,
I really hope you find a doctor that understands your pain much better.
We have a Medications forum and our Chronic Pain forum or the RSD forum has many posts about meds and med combos.

maybe you can ask your doctor, or a new dr, about some of those recommendations or ask for a referral to a pain specialist.

Many of the members are on pain meds along with an anti-depressant the combo seems to work better for the pain also.

Electrocuted, it would be great to hear from you.

Electrocuted:

I can only respond by telling you (as a mother) who was on the suicide hotline for 5 nights in a row telling them that my son was threatening suicide. It turned out he was mentally ill, and when they arrived at his house, he was laughing his head off. Now I know that this particular scenario does not apply to you. You are going through a depression right now. It seems to be your only way out now doesn't it?

Please think about what this will do to your loved ones. I have never been the same since my son put me through this. Every night, speaking to Pam (she was on the other end). My heart broke.

I don't know if you are married, have children, etc.
There is morphine, there ARE DRUGS. You just haven't found the doctor who will give them to you. Have you tried pain management centers??

There are options out there. Perhaps if you tell us where you live, (the city and State (not your personal address or anything, we do value your privacy), maybe one of us can do some research and find you some help.

Please give it some thought.

We do care,
Melody

I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time, so much pain. I can relate to that. Only my pain wasn't physical. Please, see your doc and tell him exactly how you're feeling. You need to see a pain specialist. And if your doc isn't taking you seriously, after all you're the one that has the pain, get a new doc.

From what I've seen here many of the people are well versed in PN. Many of them have great ideas. This is where I found out about the B-12 that has made such a huge difference in my PN.

My heart goes out to you. I can *really* feel your pain. And not being able to sleep is the worst. That's what drove me to researching so intensely.

Please, get help now! You're a valuable person who's touched many lives even if you're not aware of them all. Don't give up or in. Get help!
