Going back onto Cymbalta

I have just taken a 30mg Cymbalta tablet and have scripts for another 5 months worth, I have taken the executive decision to return to it.

The main reason is because when I was on Cymbalta I rarely had headaches and also my energy was up.

I am now quite fatigued and have regular low level headaches which only go away with migraine meds.

The Sanomigran isn't preventing migraines, all it is doing is increasing my appetite. Sanonigram is actually used on people with anorexia.

Last night I needed Imigran and Sanomigran and slept from 8pm to 720am and was late for work. It just isn't working out.

If I get stomach upset it will be my fault I suppose, I will be ringing my doctor and I am sure he wont be happy because he was reluctant for me to go back on Cymbalta.

Its now 2hrs or so later and not a sign of a headache, unlike most of the rest of the day where I had a headache on and off. So I have no regrets so far, I just hope it doesn't affect my stomach, hopefully not because I am not going higher than 30mg.

It is so difficult to know what to do! I have been on and off amantadine because of the insomnia side effect....but then I feel SO lethargic. I don't blame you. We just want a bit of quality of life.
I hope the side effects are not so bad this time. Best of luck!

I'm just curious. Why do you think cymbalta is helping with your headaches? Is it a common PCS med? Thanks! I'm glad you're doing well.

I could not tell you if its commonly used for PCS but it worked for me. It doesn't agree with everyone, but there are a few people on here who have been helped by it.

It is both an antidepressant and a painkiller, including for neuropathic pain.

In my case I have migraines, and these are certainly caused by widening blood vessels post injury. Cymbalta is an SNRI and therefore produces Serotonin, and Serotonin narrows blood vessels. However this medication has painkilling qualities which are not fully understood.

In turn I can say that it reduced light and noise sensitivity, helped insomnia and improved my fatigue levels. Therefore in my opinion it can help some people but not all people.

cymbalta

I'm on Cymbalta also. I agree it reduces headache and neck and facial pain for me. I take it in the late evening-do you take it then also? I wonder if you are taking it earlier in the day and switched to the evening if your stomachs wouldn't bother you so much.

Yes concussedlawyer that is exactly what I am doing, taking it in the evening.

When I first stated taking it I was in the acute PCS phase and I had insomnia and therefore taking it at night gave me too much energy. I got about 2 hours sleep as a result.

Nowadays things have settled down and if anything I am sleeping too much. Taking Cymbaltaat night isn't a problem for me anymore. I am going to go to the Chemist this morning to get a months supply, because this is a drug which really has worked for me.

I have just gone on an 8 mile walk and feel fine, my longest walk yet and no headache. Also my gym has suspended my membership from November 2012 (the time of my accident) until such a time as I am ready to go back again. Very good of them too, I just sent them a letter from myself along with a doctors letter. Hopefully sometime this year I might just make the gym.

Antidepressants

It is ok since it is helping you.I hope your stomach can agree this time.I am not on Cymbalta but I am on a SNRI and a lot of my PCS symptoms started going down with the SNRI.I was diagnosed with Major depression which I never even had depression before.I will probably be on antidepressants for awhile if not the rest of my life and I am fine with it.:grouphug:

Yes, today made me realise that I have missed Cymbalta, and you are right if it helping it is worth taking, my Doctor is happy enough with me switching back. The main benefits are:

1. It has stopped headaches
2. I can do more. As well as an 8 mile walk, I have spent the whole day painting my house. I am tired now though. I couldn't have done this yesterday however on Sanonigram.
3. Mood lifted

All in all, the right decision to go back on Cymbalta as long as it doesn't upset my stomach.
