Botox?

It has been awhile since I have been on this forum and wanted to check in to update where things are at with me and find out if anyone has done Botox Injections and if so what the result was and for how long.

Right now I am on a 10mg Butrans patch for pain and it really has helped me a lot, however I would prefer to be off all pain meds and am looking into Botox as a solution. I am reluctant to try it as there is a heavy out of pocket expense for me and I am concerned about putting something like that in my body.

Would love to hear back from anyone who has tried this and what it did or did not do for you.

I tried Botox In January and didn't feel significant pain relief until almost a month after I received the shot. I enjoyed about a month of pain relief before the pain gradually started to return. Botox did not last as long as I had hoped. I would have liked to try it one more time but ultimately decided surgery was what was necessary for me.

I also think in addition to pain relief that Botox can offer peace of mind...remind you that you are not crazy and your symptoms are real.

Hi Tat Ive been wondering how you have been doing. I tried botox and it didnt work for me-but everyone is different. it was a huge expense for me and then they asked for the other part back and now am appealing it- just get a pre-auth before you do it. I get more releif from Trigger pt injections. Did you stop going to Dr. Ando? Take Care-JKL

Hey there, thanks for the feedback on the botox. I never did get to Dr. An do, but trying different types of massage, triggger point and rolfing which has seemed to help with the symptoms down the arms and into hands and fingers.
I have not been on the site as in the midst of checking everything out I ended up at a rheumatologist and tested positive for HLA-B27 gene marker and am being treated for Seronegative spondyloarthropathy, which is a disease of the spine, its kinda like rheumatoid, but affects the spine. I am on my second week of Enbrel treatment and have not noticed a huge difference as of yet.
How are you and how have you been doing?

Thanks for the feedback. Have you had the surgery? What was the outcome?

Hi,
I have had BOTOX. I had it thru Dr. Dean Donahue at MGH. It was an unusual experience for the Dr who did it, however didn't surprise me that much. He could not believe that I had such pain when he was injecting my R scalene muscle. I've always been told how tight my neck muscles are. My son would said, MUM, your neck is like a wrestler's! However, I am also that one in a million person who has a problem with med (I can't count how many I'm allergic) to and the Dr. told me ahead of time that no one ever has a problem with the BOTOX injections. That was until me. After he removed the needle and reentered it it was still difficult and my other side was also stiff, but not as bad. My results were unsuccessful. Altho many have had it done there and were fine. Hope this helps.

Botox

Botox, steroids and lidocain is my savor. Should have it done about every 6 months but the ins co delays and denies so by the time the hard fight has been fought the spasming muscles are a hard rock.

Just imagine spasming muscles, a foreign object is injected into it, then foreign substance. Yes, your gonna have uncomfortableness for a few weeks.

Any good doc should use ultrasound and not needle blindly
