Occipital neuralgia
Has anyone been diagnosed with this? Or received any help for this?

I have also been diagnosed with it by a neuro who has helped me with it for 7 months now.
I get nerve pain in the back of my head to the top. Sometimes it itches, sometimes it burns, sometimes it feels like knife cutting pain or there is pressure where the nerves are located. Reducing inflammation is key here, as it frees up the nerves and promotes healing. Here is what you can do: Get a nerve block. It eases the pain for a while. Heat, including hot showers relieves inflammation and pain. Anti-inflammatory medicines such as Motrin, check to make sure it doesn't interact with medications. Meaning consult a doctor before use. Also, start a supplement regimen to reduce inflammation. Dr. Andrew Weil also has a nice anti-inflammatory diet to try. Certain veggies and fish are included in this diet. Supplements include: Turmeric B-12 (1,000 mcg-5,000mcg recommended) B-50 Complex (I use a Stress-B complex which includes Vitamin C, seems to work the best for me.) Magnesium Garlic Omega 3 Keep in touch with your neurologist for routine check-ups to see your progress. Happy healing! |
