Inpatient hospitals Ontario
Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all well! I have not posted in quite a long time and it's mostly because I've been on an emotional rollercoaster and now have been an inpatient in the mental health ward of my local hospital since May 14'th. They are starting the transfer procedures to send me to either Toronto or Hamilton (Chedoke?) and I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these places or can recommend another inpatient location in Ontario that has great services. The doctors here are great and the programs are great but they are too intensive for someone with a brain injury and the doctors are having a hard time finding meds to help me that my brain will tolerate. Thank you for any information you can give me! I hope to be more active on here again once I'm out. Take care, CC |
I hope that you are healing. It is a tough road but you will be able to get through this. Hour by hour, day by day. I don't have experience with those places, but just wanted to send you encouragement and healing thoughts. Dig deep and hang in there!!!! Thinking of you.

I feel for you.....
Hi,
There are so many changes to the health system in Ontario it is hard to keep up, but I keep thinking that a Intake Brain Injury Rehab Centre might be a better bet. In Ottawa there is the Ottawa Brain Injury Rehab Centre and the Robin Easy Brain Rehab. Again there are waiting list for everything. I have a good group of professionals helping me, but lately I know I my depression has got worse. I think I was waiting for the spring and it gets here and I am still having all kind of issues. I will be thinking of you and sending positive vibes, it can really be hard for others to understand what it is like to loose you whole life and start rebuilding without concrete blocks and a lot of I don't knows. Although you may not be able to get into either of these places you could call and see if they know of any other resources. I have been waiting to see a physchologist since December but there again are waiting list. I want to see a physchologist that specialize in accidents and brain injuries, I really feel it will be a waist of time to go to anyone else. Keep truckin you will get there!!!! |
Dr Bhalero at St Michael's brain trauma clinic in Toronto was nice...he understands brain injury I think. He is a psychiatrist and may practice at some of the other hospitals.
