New PN suffered

Greetings. I am a 55 y/o male with multiple health issues, the most troubling being PN. It came on slowly, going from pain during/after walking to a little toe hurting so bad I wanted it cut off to numbness, tingling, needles etc...It is both in my hands and feet and is progressing up my legs. I take 300 Mg Gabapentin (Neurotin) 3X a day. Although no one can figure out how I got it I did have several primary causes suspicious. I do not have diabetes but it is very prevalent in my family.

My reason for joining this forum is to glean/share information from other suffers. I am not able to walk far without crutches and any distance over 150' I need a wheelchair. I am trying to find a reasonably price shoe, to start with, that might alleviate some pain while on my feet. Also, massage. Has anyone found massage to be helpful?

Welcome to NeuroTalk:

I read your other post, on Bipolar forum.

We have some members here who post on this thread
about alcohol induced PN: Two of them are doing well here,
with some lifestyle changes, dietary control, and supplements to enable nerve healing:

You are also welcome to visit our Peripheral Neuropathy forum.
There are over 100 causes of PN and toxins, and drugs are major triggers. So please visit us and tell us details about your life and history. Deciding on which path to take to heal depends on your unique circumstances.

We have a subforum that has information about triggers, treatments and questions revolving around them:

While diabetes is one trigger, it is by no means the only one.
So please visit our PN forum, and start to read there. There may be help for you that you can do yourself.
