Stabbing in eye

Hi everyone

Just wondering, some of my (many) presenting symptoms 12 years ago were vision problems, cloudiness, greying, double vision, blind spots and so on, but it wasn't really accompanied by pain (other than thinking I had conjunctivitis because my eyes were a bit sore and red).

The last few days, in addition to being sore, tired and often watery, my left eye is frequently feeling like someone is stabbing a needle into it - from the inside to out - between my iris and the inner corner of my eye. I have noticed a decrease in vision in this eye, and an increase in sensitivity to light. When I cover my right eye, pieces of text are jumping around a bit and are blurry.

Does this stabbing sound familiar to anyone? I can't see any visible injury - I just didn't have pain like this before.

Just wondering about your experiences.

Many thanks

Lyn

It might be Optic Neuritis. When I had it I had pain in my eye although it wasn't stabbing pain. More like aching pain when I moved my eye. But I'm sure it's different for everyone.....just like MS......

I'd go to the Neuro as soon as possible. I didn't take anything for mine and it lasted about six weeks. Steroids are probably a possibility especially if you're working and need to get it cleared up as soon as possible.

Hope you feel better soon!

Or call your ophthalmologist... As soon as possible. What if it's NOT ON but "something else"? You only have two eyeballs...

Kitty & Blessings are both right on. Get thee to thy Doc.

Hope you feel better soon.

I agree, see the eye doctor. Stabbing pain, yes, I have experienced that; it came with vision loss.

Hope you get some answers, it is painful

Lynn,

I'm sorry that you are having another problem. I hope this isn't serious and resolves. Optic neuritis does have to be ruled out. Is it still Sunday in OZ? These MS things always happen on a weekend, don't they?

I've had the stabbing pain as well. Call your neuro and/or ophthalmologist and try to get in to see one of them. Whether it is MS or something else, something is going on that needs to be evaluated. We always tend to blame everything on MS but sometimes it's not MS at all.

Let us know how you are doing.:hug:
