Peaceful and relaxing things to do...

Just wanted to post a topic that has a upbeat feel to it, I hope. lol...I know having MG is hard and that every single day we struggle with our symptoms fluctuating up and down and all around so bad it likes to give us whiplash at times. So I decided to post and ask everyone what are the peaceful or relaxing things that you do to make you just *sigh with relief* For me I love to paint, that is when my body lets me even if its only for a few minutes or if I have to lay down after I paint. It's something that makes me just relax, always has been. Also reading the Bible, that relaxes me so much. Seems to just take the tension right out of my body.
So everyone what are the things that make your mind or body just say *ahhh* with relief or just plain relaxing to you?:D

I love to sew and make handmade quilts. On a good day I sew a little. On bad days, I watch quilt shows on tv, or search quilting websites to get ideas for future projects (even though I know I will never get to do them). It just makes me happy to see them and get the creative juices going on what colors I would use or how I would do it differently. I used to love to garden, now I have just do a little container gardening. It makes me happy to see something I planted, flower and bloom. It reminds me of a favorite poem (another passion)

Red Geraniums

Life did not bring me silken gowns,
Nor jewels for my hair,
Nor signs of gabled foreign towns
In distant countries fair,
But I can glimpse, beyond my pane,
A green and friendly hill,
And red geraniums aflame
Upon my window sill.

The brambled cares of everyday,
The tiny humdrum things,
May bind my feet when they would stray,
But still my heart has wings
While red geraniums are bloomed
Against my window glass,
And low above my green-sweet hill
The gypsy wind-clouds pass.

And if my dreamings ne'er come true,
The brightest and the best,
But leave me 'lone my journey through,
I'll set my heart at rest,
And thank God for the home-sweet things,
A green and friendly hill,
And red geraniums aflame
Upon my window sill.

....Martha Haskell Clark

I used to do oil paint too as well as lots of other crafts.

What a beautiful poem that is. Thank you for sharing it. I used to write stories and poems. I have unfinished romance novels I wanted so bad to publish till MG hit me. But this isn't a sad topic its happy. Quilts are so beautiful, the flowers too. So many Colorado and kinds. Do you have a favorite flower? I always loved them but they make me sneeze. Lol...in my hospital room I had fake roses but thing is everyone went over and sniffed them. Lol it was too funny. Nurses and even doctors. Lol...
Continue to share it makes one smile and that is truly what we all need.

I have bad allergies/asthma too. That is while I plant them outside. I love the old fashioned flowers, daffodils, pansy, snapdragons and of course red geraniums on my window sill.

I am making a small wall hanging quilt. I bought fabric off an MG website that is printed with "Myasthenia Gravis Awareness" and I am going to add blocks for a ragdoll, snowflake and the teal awareness ribbon for MG. If it turns out well and I ever finish it, I will post a picture.

I am also interested in what others do to keep their spirits up. I am a bit down since the MG symptoms are breaking through with the decreases pregnisone dose.

thanks

MUSIC!! Love to listen to music of any kind. Classical music is especially relaxing! I use to play the piano before my joint issues caused trigger finger and that was very relaxing :-(
Get XM or Sirius for the home and channel surf. Many TV Cable systems also have extensive music channels that even tell you what is playing!

Music is an excellent way to chill. I think I am going to ask my daughter to burn me some CD of my favorite music. Thanks
