Weekly Check-In May 6-12, 2007

Hi Everyone..The weather has been nice and Ive been busy..Ive got so much to do between fishing and yard work that I dont know where to start..Ive been fishing for bait so that I can get started with my conch traps, and have been making a utility trailor out of an old boat trailor..I can use it to get my traps down to the waterfront as I have a little Ford Ranger now and it doesnt carry much..I also have to get a yard of 3/4 stone for my driveway, and no way do I want to put it in the bed of the truck..Its got one of those plastic bed covers on it, and its nice because it keeps the bed dry when it rains etc, and is great for putting groceries back there without having to worry about them getting wet..All this work has been wearing me to a frazzle, and I am doing the Parkinsons shuffle by afternoon and have to lay down to charge the battery back up..What a difference a year makes

Im beat so Im gonna cut this short..Thats whats going on with me..Kitty is doing great!

How was your week?

Hi Steve

Don`t usually post on this check in but had to let you know I eventually tracked down a cough mixture with the infamous elixir called dex*&*(*& whatever...in it.I had to admit to the pharmacist that it wasn`t for a cough but he still sold me some after checking my meds,He is also going to trace it in tablet form cos my daughter kind of let on that I drink from the bottle and not from a measuring spoon.:(
The interesting thing is...I have not suffered dystonia sincee taking it.Do you reckon I can start dropping off a tablet or two yet? No? ok then.
Not to worry. Dystonia free is good enough for now.
Have a great week
x

The suggested therapudic dose is 1/2 teaspoon..(5-8 mg)..@ 15mg per teaspoon by volume, which should render you 7.5 mg daily..Not suggested to exceed that dose

no kidding

whoopsy....mega overdosing then...will try to be more sensible.
Thanks steve

Steffi..The study that was done by Dr Hong on lab rats suggests that DM has neuro-protective properties in the therapudic dose..If this is in fact so in humans as well, then any other benefits associated with DM use are a bonus

DM although a low grade narcodic can become addictive and cause heart problems through high blood pressure among other ailments in high doses

The weather here in south central PA is very cool. I am trying very hard to resist closing my upstairs windows. It is in the 50s today with a strong breeze. The skies and temps during the week were not this cool, but wonder out in the sun.

I mowed my daughter's yard on Monday.
By Tuesday morning I realized that without intervention, this may be the last summer I can do all the yardwork I have done in the past.
I tried to do a bit of bed edging on Tuesday, which lasted all of about 10 mins...:(
By Friday all the beds and trees were weeded and edged :)

The apple tree has about 20 buds on it...aka future Attachment 1155
The grandmother's Attachment 1157 will be all shade by the end of this week :)

Alas, it will be Monday again tomorrow, and the yard already needs to be mowed again :thud: and yes, I will do it anyway

It looks so peaceful to look out the kitchen/family room windows and see the yard when it is freshly cleaned up and the kids are enjoying the huge play set Attachment 1151 that the my grandmother counterpart had built there last year.

This past Wednesday, I drove to Harrisburg and got on the , making the 90-minute Attachment 1158 ride into Philadelphia. The Attachment 1159 ride from the awesomely beautiful 30th Street Station to the Institute of Neurology reminded me why I didn't drive into Philly  !!

During the Invetigational Doctor's Q&A I didn't learn anything I didn't already know, since I had been watching CERE-120 past through the industry pipeline for a while now. On Friday I sent the Coordinator my, "It's a Go!" email, and will be going back to Philly next week for the consent review and physical evaluation workup. Then I will find out if I physically qualify for the trial.

Have a beautiful Spring week!!

For those attending the BIO International Convention in Boston this week. Watch out for the :Demonstration:

protestors - I'm confused

Now I don't know which to join - the bio tech conference or the protestors.....it's a love hate relationship....perhaps go back and forth?

Hi Paula,

I would like to recommend a book for you to read written by Dr. Howard Brody, who holds the John P. McGovern Centennial in Family Medicine and is Professor and Director at the Institute for the Medical Humanities, University of Texas. It is published by Rowman and Littlefield Publishers, ISBN - 13 978-0-7425-5218-0. The book, Ethics, The Medical Profession, and the Pharmaceutical Industry - Hooked copyright, 2007.

It makes recommendations on changes that should be considered in the contracts patients sign for research companies. It gives a little history and uses actual cases to make the authors points.

As far as life in the state of Minnesota, today we have winds of up to 40 miles per hour. It is my middle son's birthday and we are eating out to celebrate. He and his fiancee have finally set a date for their wedding, July 21, 2007, and a week later they will move to Dallas, Texas so Fred can go to college to learn law, and his fiancee Karen can have better luck finding a full time teaching job.

My children are all moving so far away. I don't see them much anyways because they lead busy lifes. I miss the closeness of day to day contact.

Will really miss the opportunity to babysit the grandchildren.

Steve, your pictures are too funny. Can you PM me and tell me how to post pics? I'm so clueless about this kind of stuff! I have some Unity Walk pictures I'd like to share...

Sunny and warm here, so life is good. Mid 80's today and pushing 90 over the next few days. I love it!

Completely exhausted after our trip to NY for the Unity Walk. Flying coast to coast is never fun, especially when you're 6'4" and have PD. But it was worth it as the Walk is a great event and the weather cooperated. If you've never been, you should seriously consider it for next year.

Getting ready for the upcoming NPF Young-Onset Conference in Chicago July 5-7. It'll be fun to see old friends, and meet new ones.

Other than that, life is quiet and that's a good thing right now.

Have a great week everyone!

week

Hello Everyone,

I've had a busy week and will have an even busier week next week.
I hit the trail and went bike riding today. I love to ride. Afterwards, I loaded up my bike, got in the car and then the rain started. Lucky me! My daughter was crowned Miss Indian Alabama on Saturday. She is very beautiful...........inside and out. I'm enjoying learning about each one of you on this forum. You are all great. I hope everyone has a great week this week!

Lots of Love,

Mary Frances
