Do I need to find a new neuro?

I have or had many symptoms of ms plus family history of ms. I had seen my second neuro about a month ago for the first time. He put me on Ritalin for fatigue and to help me concentrate. He ordered an MRI which came back clear. We talked about an lp before the MRI. He said even if the MRI shows nothing he would still do it. Well when when he told me that the MRI was clear and I brought up the lp he said even if you have a positive MRI I still will think you don't have ms. I have had blood work, mri's, and an emg done which are all normal. Should I look for another neuro?

If it were me I would.

Sorry you're dealing with this. The road to diagnosis is a rough one.

Hope you get some answers soon!

Sorry I'm brain isn't working with my fingers today lol I meant to say he said if I had a positive LP he would still think I don't have ms since the MRI showed no lesions.

Nothing wrong with a second opinion. Does your first neurologist plan to have any follow up MRI's in the future?

Are the meds working to treat your symptoms?

I've had my mri's 3 months apart and still no lesions. The Ritalin is helping for the fatigue so far but not really for comcentration.

If it were me I'd look for someone who specializes in MS. :)

I seen the nurse practitioner from my neuros office for the first time and apparently she thought I needed the LP because I'm scheduled for 9:30AM TOMORROW!! I'm shocked they are getting me in so quick to do the LP.

Best of luck with your LP.
