paranoid in pennsylvania

About 3 years ago I started having numbness and tingling in my arms and hands. I has an MRI of my neck and the orthopedits told me that I had something going on in my C6/C7 vertabrae that was causing it - but then it went away. It cam back this year and when I had another MRI and had it reviewed by a neurosurgeon he said that whatever's going on - my symptoms are not caused by my neck. I also have weakness in my hands now.

I have an EMG scheduled and my mind is racing wondering what I have. I also get ocular migraines, flashing lights in my vision and have had one or two episodes in the cold weather where my index fingers turned completely white and I had to put them under warm water to get the blood flow started again.

zachdaddy,

I am sorry you are going through such a rough time. Although we are not dr.'s here I encourage you to look around the different forums to see if any of them fit. Personally it sounds like you have a several different things going on. Like your migraine's I believe is completely seperate from your fingers turning white.

Please follow up with your emg and your dr.'s. We are here for you for encouragement.

Hi there.

Just wanted to say Hi and Welcome. We have lots of forums here. Look around, keep posting and someone will give you the information you need.

You have a lot of stuff going on. I once had a friend who suffered from Ocular Migraines. She was prescribed Imitrex. I believe it helped her.

I hope you get some relief.

Take care and again, Welcome

Melody

Hi Zachdaddy,

I can answer your question about your fingers turning white. It's called Raynaud's Syndrome and is caused by problems with the blood vessels. It causes blood flow problems to the fingers ears, nose, and lips.

Blood vessels normally narrow in response to cold temperatures or emotional stress. Raynauds is an exaggerated response to these triggers. The narrow blood vessels restrict blood flow to certain areas of the body - fingers especially.
Raynauds is sometimes seen in certain autoimmune diseases, but it can also exist by itself, with no other conditions present.
I've had it for many years, and it is more of an inconvenience than anything else. Just keep the warm gloves handy!
