Greetings

Hello All,

This is my first post and I want to tank everyone in advance for your support.

I live in Northrn Virginia, a very beautiful place to be this time of year!

I was diagnosed with Occipital Neuralgia (ON) some 8 years ago.

It is fairly typical, the pain radiates in a ram's horn shape on the left side of my head. Pretty awful reallyu. I am in the process of applying for disability.

I've gone trhough;

1. Many steroid injectiojns in the head at multiple facilities
2. Had a nerve 'ectomy' performed by a neurosurgeon, only to have the nerve regenerate itself and become mor painful than before.
3. Have been on every opiod medication in the known universe. So many that I managed to cross over from dependence to addication and have been on suboxone for one year.
The pain is pretty gruesome, and the docs are considering taking me off suboxone. This really frightens me as I have a big time addictive personality.

THe pain doc has started me on LYRICA (two days now), I take 1 100 mg at bedtime for 3 days, then increase the dosage to 100 3x a day.

I have found forums such as thee extremely helpful. I value hearing other peoples stories, experinces, and ho wthey cope with difficult conditions.

I beleive we can all learn much from each other.

I am a terrible typist and apologize up front for it now.

I kinda have a wry sense of humor, that tends to border on the sarcastic, but no arm is ever inended.

I ws wonering if anyone out there has experince with LYRICA nad Occipital Neuralgia? I would appreciate hearing anything about it.

Many thanks!

Hi Bobsled!

I too am in northern VA and yes it's beautiful here [except for the pollen counts of course].
I've a severe PN and went the neuro-opth route as well....fortunately the 'eye' part of my problems have decreased to only a bother...
There are some really great neuro's around us, and neuro-opth's as well. I hope you've got the same ones I do!

Feel free to PM me any time - so many here know pain in many different ways, but we manage to help each other.

Pain free moments to you - j
