Watching the ISS fly over

The International Space Station. How lucky that since moving to Iowa I get to see it frequently.

Tonight's pass is at 10pm something (need to nail that down to go look). It's just a white dot moving accross the sky but I think it's cool to see!

I guess I won't be able to see it in Ohio.:(

Maybe in the next few days, Sally. It is always up there, and it doesn't fly over Iowa every night. Maybe Ohio gets a peek, you just don't hear about it. My TV weather reporters alert me to it, then I found the tracker posted above. There may be better trackers, with times included. Several sites I tried said I didn't have authorization:confused: or some such thing to view.

Our news station told us to watch for it in the late afternoon. We thought we might have seen it.
It was really high in the sky and moving very quickly....however, it showed a vapor trail like a jet does. Would it have a vapor trail?

Thanks Sparky!

I found out it will be at maximum brightness tomorrow night around 9:30 at my house. I'm going to look for it!

I love doing stuff like this!

It moves faster than a jet at altitude, but I don't know about a vapor trail. They're also known as con trails, short for condensation. I really don't know if there's vapor in space. And I've never seen the ISS in daylight but it is possible.

Nope. No vapor trail. Had a U.S. EVA (spacewalk) on Tuesday and another one next Tuesday. Then 2 Russian EVA's in August.

Moves pretty fast, doesn't it? It was real bright when a shuttle was docked there.
