foot drop
 

I've had MG symptoms for almost four years now, but yesterday I had a new one: foot drop.

I really over-did it yesterday. It was 100 degrees, and I did errands all day--two trips to drop off and pick up kids at activities, the grocery store, Walmart (ugh!), a blood test--and then, in the evening, a Little League baseball game.* That's about ten times more than I usually allow in the same day. So it's not surprising that at the end of it (after the game, at around 8:00 p.m.) my MG should be acting up. But I never had foot drop before.

My MG tends to travel around. A month or so ago, my neck was weak and now it's not. Usually when I'm tired, my legs are weak, but yesterday my legs were fine, only my feet weren't working. I have the impression that this migration of weakness is typical for MG. But I haven't heard anyone talk about foot drop here. Is that unheard of with MG?

You name it, I think MG can do it! If you happened to be wearing a different shoe, or a sandal where we normally have to kind of "grip" a bit as we walk, I can totally see foot drop happening.

Sorry your feet aren't cooperating (talk about a sign to slow down!) but SOOO happy about your kid!

since so many neuromuscular disorders have overlapping symptoms, foot drop would not be a complete surprise to me for anyone with MG or any other neuromuscular disorder

one would think foot drop is ONLY a symptom of PN but those of us with PN may have other symptoms that hint of MG, PD, MS, etc

since nerves tell our muscles what to do, ANY neuropathy (nerve damage) could affect muscles as well anywhere in our bodies

I have had occasional foot drop. I attributed it to the MG. More often, I have foot drag, or stumbling, and occasional falling.

I have had issues with feet for years, had bunion surgery on one foot and podiatrist saw no reason for my issues .recently diagnosed via EMG with Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome which accounts for issues in feet, pain, very weak ankles etc.

Ps also at same time diagnosed with degenerative disc disease which in hindsight i now realize how bad my back has been and how i had failed to even realize many issues i was having
