Please, need info on artificial disc for cervical disc
Hi, I really need some information on artificial disc replacement. Is it still being used, or is it on the way out. One neurosurgeon I saw here says that it is on the way out and that fusion is the best there is. I see lots of research that indicates the contrary, but the NS claims that this is all sponsored by the companies that make the disc. I would much rather have the adr than a fusion, though both NS say this will not relieve the pain in the neck or damage done by the sequestrated disc. It is at the c6-7 level. There are other issues, but for now the most pressing is if it is still available, and if so, where in Canada can I access this disc replacement surgery. Also, do any of you have any really good neurosurgeons in Canada that you can recommend? I would be willing to participate in experimental surgery for adr, if that is what it takes, and if anyone knows if this is taking place anywhere in Canada. Please? and thank-you!

artificial disc replacement cervical in canada
Not all articles are by instrumentation companies, and some include directories of surgeons. ONE example (NOT an endorsement.) FOUR links on the first two pages of the above search are specifically Canadian. Doc |
Thanks, Dr. Smith! However,

Two of the links are .pdf files -- papers on ADR written by research teams headed by MDs. One link is to the London Health Sciences Centre, "one of Canada’s largest acute-care teaching hospitals". One is to Health Quality Ontario, "an independednt government agency". Here is ONE directory of spine doctors: http://www.spine-health.com/doctor I did not peruse beyond the first two pages of search. Doc |
