New here; another cymbalta question
Hi there,
I know there's already a recent cymbalta thread, but I didn't want to hijack someone else's thread with a different question. So, my question is - does anyone know FOR SURE when cymbalta is going to be off patent? I've seen several different dates mentioned around the web, and when I price it on my insurance company's website it's still showing as available in brand name only. It seems like it's been under patent forever, lol. When it first came out my insurance covered it, and it worked wonders for both my depression and migraines. But then (of course) insurance decided not to cover brand names anymore and I had to switch to inderal and celexa. I'm at the max dosage of inderal, and it only helped for 3 days and the migraines are back as bad as ever. I'm hoping if I go back on cymbalta it will help both my migraines and depression like it did before. Sorry this post is so long, and thank you for your help! |
FOR SURE? I don't know of anything that's "for sure" outside of death & taxes (especially where pharmaceutical companies and their lawyers are concerned ), but the best recent information I've been able to find is that Eli Lilly & Co, was granted an extension on Cymbalta until 12/13. Generics probably won't be available until 6 months after that.

You can contact Lilly. They have a program where they will pay for the medication if you can't afford it.
