brown spot on core for Crown
I had a crown done on a molar on july 2 , I asked for a mirror so I could watch and I noticed a brown spot on the tooth after prep , I said whats that decay still there for , its suppose to be decay free , dentist said it's not decay , I forgot what he called it and told me it is not an issue , has anyone ever heard of a brown spot that's not decay , I still have the temp crown on and am thinking of getting a second opinion on this brown spot , I was on valium at the time and I didn't question him more like I normally would have for total peace of mind

ScaredGal,
It is typical for the dentin of the tooth to be a yellow, gray or brown color. When a tooth is prepped for a crown, the areas where the enamel is drilled away the dentin becomes visible. So that is most likely what you are seeing. Brown color on a tooth does not always indicate decay. Bryanna Quote:

Thanks for the answer
well since May 18th up till today all this stress and fear over this dental drama I have lost 50 pounds , it seems when I face one procedure with mega fear only to find it was not what I expected I feel good for a few days , then the fear kicks in again with the next upcoming visit not knowing what to expect ( I am embarrassed to say that when I had the first crown prep and the fear of the novocaine needle I ended up peeing myself , the girls at the desk said they have never encountered a patient as afraid as I am ) anyway on the 16th I am having a second upper molar crown done , that I actualy look forward to cause of the last one done , it was fun ,but on the 17th I go back for a crown on tooth 18 and a filling on tooth 17 , now this one I fear because I heard mention nerve block with this if the dentist can not the shot like the upper molars I am going to back out and have these teeth extracted ,my health is more important to me then 2 molars plus I have the stress of these crowned teeth needing a possible root canal down the road , I read that crowned teeth with no root canal end up needing a root canal so with 3 crowns the odds are against me and that weighs heavy on me and always will and to be honest I am sorry I let this dentist talk me into any of this work , I should have gone with my gut and had upper and lower molar partials , at least I would not be so stressed out all the time and with these crowns I will now always have stress
