new here with arachnoid cysts

Hello everyone, my journey began 5/16. I went to ER for bronchitis which I have often, this time I had the worse headache of my life. I went for a ct scan results came back as 3.8 cm x 1.9 cm collection along the left frontal convexity. There is beveling of the adjacent calvaruim. This represents an arachnoid cyst in an unusual location.
6/7 went for mri without/with contrast results for that shocked me because there was so much more. 4.5 cm oval lateral to the left frontoparietal lobe, thinning of tue skull with pressure necrosis from chronic arachnoid cyst. There is a small arachnoid cyst anterior to the right temporal lobe. There is punctate focus of increased T2 and Flair within the subcortical white matter of the left occipital lobe, incidental finding of gliosis. A partially empty sella turcica is suggested.
Which brings me to now, yesterday 7/10 went to see neurosurgeon he pretty much said come back 8/2 and tell me if you are going to go through with surgery. I'm not sure what to do I mean it's brain surgery. Has anyone else here had a cyst in the same area? Did you have it removed? Did you have positive results from surgery? It's so hard to know what the right thing to do, I'm a 29 yr old mom of one, single and had to move back home with my mom and dad because I don't feel like working.I want my life back instead of headaches. I'm looking foward to hearing from you guys its nice to have someone to talk to and the extra support :)

First of all I'm sorry you are going through this. Welcome to neurotalk. You will find a great bunch of people out here. What is your Dr saying if you don't have the surgery?

Thanks so much :) He really didn't say much about not having surgery, he said with the problems and headaches he would have the surgery. He asked me to point at the exact spot my headache was and I pointed exactly at the cyst (larger one) without knowing where it was at the time. he said if I had of said anywhere other than there he would have suggested the wait and see approach. Most of the time these type of cyst are asymptomic and they do nothing about them no matter the size, when they could be causing a problem surgery was recommened.

What did you end up doing Gefallen?

Did you get the surgery? How are you doing now? I have an arachnoid cyst in the left frontal area too. The doctor asked me if I'd had seizures. Not sure what will need to be done about it yet.

Hi Alegre17,

I have an Arachnoid Cyst that had doubled in size in the past 8 years. I attribute a fair few of my issues at least partially to it. Unfortunately, here they are ignored unless they seem so large they malform the skull. I am afflicted by Idiot Neuro Syndrome :D.

Have you been given any surgical options? Do you have seizures or any other symptoms? I know exactly how worrying a growth in the brain can be, and talk of surgery is particularly worrying. The brain is the centre of yourself, the very essence of being 'you',. Should you feel the need to talk about any Cyst issues I am always available.

Dave.
