ssdi to run dry in 2016

Just watched a video on cnn news this morning about social security disability running out of money in 2016.It stated that the social security disability program is in serious trouble and will run out of money by 2016 which is only 3 short years away.people receiving benefits now will begin to loose benefits in 2016.

I don't know what video you watch but Social Security is funded, as of today, for another 25 years and that doesn't count contributions made in the future. Sounds like ** fear tactics, IMHO.

regular social security god or 25 years. ssdi good to 2016. it's just number fudging. they will likely come up with a new equation to have it last a lot longer.

99% positive that doesn't mean an end to SSDI, they will just have to find another way to fund it.

However, they do have to do something about the rampant abuse in the system

ssdi, they should cut welfare before they even think of cutting my checks!!

There is no way they can cut our SSDI payments and not cut welfare! It blows my mind when they call SSDI a
Intitlement program! How is it a intitalment when I paid into it for so many years , and if I had not they would tell me to pound sand! The people would not stand for a cut in SSDi unless they are willing to cut welfare in half! The welfare people did not par crap

Most of the public does not understand the difference between SSI and SSDI benefits.

SSDI benefits (and SS retirement benefits) cost the government much more than we ever pay in, it really isn't the same as paying for insurance.

While I do understand the need for SSI, there are times when I question how fair it is that when you factor in the extra entitlement programs, like Medicaid, that they can receive.

Not that every SSI applicant is able to utilize all those benefits, and they certainly have less opportunities for long term security... But many SSDI beneficiaries are never going to be in a situation to achieve financial security regardless.

social security doesnt cost the government anything. that is the big lie. it is still self funded and has a 2.6 trillion dollar surplus. in the 1990's money was moved from the disability part to the retirement part. right now a certain political party that controls congress is blocking moving that money back to the disability part in order to hack away at social security with a long term view of killing the entire system which they have been against since its inception.
