Glutathione for PN?
My husband came home from work today and told me his coworker suggest Glutathione for neuropathy.
I have never heard of it. So, anyone here ever use it for pn? |
Glutathione gets mixed reviews mostly because it doesn't seem to work well when taken orally. There are lipid forms that they say work better but are more expensive. Generally, IV glutathione is used by many functional medicine doctors. But IV delivery is not really practical.
That being said, you can increase your glutathione levels with other nutrients like NAC, Folate, B6, B12, Alpha Lipoic Acid, selenium, Vit C and E. NAC and ALA being the big hitters. Also, milk thistle can help. Glutathione is key in body's ability to detox. Will it help PN? I guess it depends on why you have PN. IMO, don't think it's a "go to" supplement for PN. |
Thanks for the info!
This is the product she told him to tell me to take...it's horrid expensive, $99 wow! First and only patented natural protein scientifically and clinically PROVEN to optimize your immune system! Immunocal is a specially formulated protein derived from whey. Unlike most commercial whey products, it contains the richest source of glutathione building blocks available. Only Immunocal has the research and international patents to prove this. How does Immunocal work? The immune system is incredibly complex, but a major cornerstone relies on its ability to obtain a molecule called glutathione. Glutathione exists in every cell of your body and is essential for life and critical for health. This molecule is constantly being used up in dozens of your body’s functions and is difficult to replace. Glutathione is your body’s master antioxidant, its chief detoxification enzyme and is literally food for the immune system. Immunocal restores optimal glutathione levels. Many natural products are available that claim to help your immune system, but very few have undergone the rigorous testing and published human trials that Immunotec has accomplished over the years. Over forty published scientific and medical articles attest to its remarkable credibility. Besides its ability to raise glutathione and all the benefits that come with it, Immunocal has the highest BV (Biological Value) of any protein available on the market, supplying all the amino acids your body needs. http://immune-wellness.com/ |
All those fancy supplement sites selling "special formulas" are typically highly expensive.
Taking NAC may help. NOW brand is affordable for this BTW. Glutathione is suggested for DNA damage, from drugs and has been mentioned for antibiotic damage, esp from fluoroquinolones. This is a good overview: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mar..._b_530494.html If you try anything, I'd give the new liposomal ones a try to see if they work. They would cost about what that link charges for whey protein! But the NAC should work some if you are low and for much less cost. |
I like the Liposomal GSH. I also like NAC.

We've used Jarrow's brand a long time ago. John's using a combo supplement from Thorne which has some NAC in it.

I've used their liposomal vitamin C. I don't notice any difference with it but then you can't see what's going on inside your body. Their products are good.
