How much Vit B12 after head injury?
Hello,
I was rear ended by 2 trucks 4 months ago, I had a concussion and other injuries, I'm in PT and OT including vestibular therapy. I have severe headaches, also dizziness, I feel as though I'm in a brain fog and cannot think of the correct words at times...my therapist says my eyes are not tracking objects normally. I'm a little lost concerning which vitamins I should be taking, I do take Vit E 400, Vit D 1000 and also Magnesium but not any of the B's. My therapist mentioned sublingual Vit B12 ? Not sure what dose I should be taking though and the therapist said it doesn't matter. (?) If I take Vit B12 do I also need a B-Complex? and a multi ? I'm so confused  Sorry to post this as I'm sure it's already been answered but looking at the computer makes my headaches worse so can only be on here for a short while. Thank you for any help. :grouphug: |
Hi Dagma,
I suspect the reason your therapist said it doesn't matter how much B-12 you take is because it is a very safe vitamin -- there is no known upper dose/limit. Some people take as much as 5 mg/day without any problems. Folks here recommend the type called methylcobalamin, as it is better absorbed than other forms. Any dosage between 1 mg - 5 mg (1000 mcg - 5000 mcg) should be ok. Here is MrsD's B12 thread. A good multi and a good B complex will just make sure you're getting what you need in case you're not getting them in your diet. Here is MrsD's post on magnesium supplements. Doc |
Hi Doc, thank you very much for the information, going to print out MrsD's posts, thanks again:grouphug:
