Private message versus Email sent?

Hello,

What's the difference between sending someone a private message versus an email?

Private messages are not viewable in the person's profile but emails are?
I'm confused..lol

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Thank you,

WindWalker

A PM (Private Message) is sent through the NeuroTalk website to a private mailbox accessible only by the recipient here on this forum.

An email is totally separate from the NeuroTalk website and is done through the recipients private email address accessed by them through their web browser.

Neither are viewable through the recipients profile.

If you click on the username you'll get a dropdown menu and can select either "send private message to" or "send email to". If the member has included their email address in their contact information and you select that option your message will go to the email address they provided at registration.

just adding that the only thing that is viewable on a person's profile is if you send the a visitor message (also in the drop down menu) That is the equivalent of writing on their "Wall" and can be seen by anyone who is logged in to NeuroTalk ie NOT private.

as Kitty mentioned PMs are done via our system, while emails go direct to the other person's email box. A member must have selected the option to receive an email, whereas most people do accept PMs and VMs.
