I've decided to write a book

I don't know if I will actually be able to do it or not. On another forum I am on, My fitness pal, we all just 'sit' around and talk. It really helps us understand some of the issues that make us overweight. Most of the things we talk about are not weight related but life related. So I have told a lot of stories about my childhood which was the kind of childhood I think every child deserves to have. And they love it! I was so surprised. I never thought that I had any special talent but they just have a way of encouraging me in ways I have never got from anyone else. I once wrote a smll little bookt give my oldest daughter when she had her first child. It was the story of some of her life. I called it 'The many names of Christina' since through out her life as she went through all the stages that a child normally goes through she had different names. I couldn't find anyone to coordinate putting pictures and my text together so I just had to conquer it myself and I like what I did more than if it had regular print. It was actually in my own handwriting. It was my book to her and her little baby girl.

So know I am using the notepad on my mini Ipad so that wherever I am and I have some more thoughts I can just add them. I anyone has any ideas how I can easily transfer those notes over to my computer and put it in paragraph, sides, you know everything that a book has, I would welcome them. But my computer is not an apple product. I don't think my son in law will ever forgive me!!!!!

What a wonderful undertaking Doydie. I enjoy the writing in your posts and know that any book that you write would be a great read :).

Here are a couple of possibilities for converting note files to text:

MyScript Memo for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod
https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/mysc...446368116?mt=8

Evernote for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store
https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/ever...281796108?mt=8

For arranging the text into book format and progressing from there, just search "desk top publishing".

With love, Erika

Doydie,

That sounds great and I'm glad the other group is encouraging you. :)

Make sure your notes are backed up though, you can do that with iCloud on the iPad.

Erica I looked at those two sites and for me right now it's all Greek! So I'll have to study them and check it out now.

Wiz, I know my SIL said it was very important to have Icloud so it's downloaded I just don't know what to do with it.

So far the few chapters I have written are just in thought form and I haven't done anything with the spelling a I type. I do like it that as I have a thought on one thing it reminds me of something in another chapter I have already started so I just find the page that has that chapter and add it in. Sometimes I am able to find where it should be added in and others I just add it at the end knowing that I will eventually have to do something with it.

I am using notes to try to write song lyrics for my son but I haven't had any inspiration for at least a month. The most important thing is that you write your thoughts down regularly and then you can organize and edit them later. If you need help I can walk you through backing up with iCloud if you call me on my day off after I am up and moving in the afternoon. Let me know if I can help. I do this stuff all day long at work and it would not be a problem to help.

Maybe a trip to the store where you got your phone would be helpful/easier in finding out how to do the transfer?

Where is our Guru of Gadgets, Erin? She would probably know how to do it :).

I'm sure if I went to Best Buy I would be charged to talk to the Geek Squad. And I think Best Buy is our local apple supplier. My SIL is the one who told me about making sure I have icloud to back up any file I am making so I'll ask him. I need to be able to get his head out of the cloud, pardon the pun, though. When we are together he is always on his laptop doing something.

I also know I could ask my niece. But she is so much like her Mom, my sister and 'knows everything' and loves to let everyone know about it. I don't want to to her. What I need to find is a free resource for seniors to help them write books and take them from thought form to book form.

I can help you on Friday, my day off. I will post instructions for setting up iCloud or you can call me and I can walk you through it. I won't be ready for action until about 5pm though, I need my beauty sleep on my day off. :p

Geek squad is free. You only pay once you start buying things they recommend. :-)

Your local library might have free classes to help, or even a writers group. And if you check, you might have a local office of aging in your county -- try calling to see which services for seniors are offered. You might find classes, equipment, who knows!

life of painful liesure

I see now that you are not the young lady in the photo. I spend a lot of time being confused. Start a book, write your thoughts everyday. I do them when I am not able to verbalize them. Say.....3 O'clock in the am. It writes itself. I would like to exchange thoughts. Having a disability gives us immeasurable amount of time to explore ourselves ( too much )
