Foot/Leg Nerve Pain (post Neurostimulator)
Today, right now I am suffering from foot/leg nerve pain throbbing sharp and constant. This morning they installed a temporary neurostimulator to help with my back and left leg pain. It's my right foot/leg hurting so bad. They said they hit my spinal cord and yes ...I jumped almost off the bed. After they hit it. My foot/leg are killing me and neurontin / oxycodone is barely helping. Any, please, any suggestions?

Say what?
Opps we hit the spinal cord during placement of the stimulator - no wonder you are having intense pain. Please insist they give you something stronger for pain relief until the cord and nerves around the cord calm down..... Ask for a Medrol pack - it is methylprednisolone and it helps with inflammation. That might help for the next few days.... Tell the doctors you need some pain relief - now. Sometimes you have cry really loud - maybe start asking about why they hit the spinal cord and if that is normal? Maybe they will be more willing to give you the necessary pain meds just for immediate need - not long term - just to deal with their complication that you are now suffering with...... ****** me off to no end that doctors can just make a mistake like that and then tell you to just deal with it.... The other thing to do is relax....sounds crazy but it really helps. Sit somewhere very quietly and listen to your breathing....start to focus on taking a breath in and blowing it out - in, out, in, out until you can really feel your breath cooling down your throat, watching your tummy expand as you inhale and feeling the breath blow out your nose as you exhale....do this for as long as you can - work up to 5 minutes....or more once or twice a day...see where it takes you. Don't roll your eyes at me. I used to think meditation and breathing was for those kind of people - those "organic" sorts, not me. Let me tell you, after a lifetime of chronic severe pain - learning to meditate and deep breathe is a life saver. Let us know how you are coping. I will send up some prayers for relief. K |
