Prednisone worked for leg weakness, could it still be ms?
Hi, this might sound like a silly question but I know nothing about ms or medication. I've been experiencing weakness in my limbs for a month now which brought me to this forum. I took 60mls of presnisone today to see if it would help my weakness and it did !! For the first time in weeks my energy is back, no leg/arm weakness, and I feel like I can run a mile!! Would prednisone help ms symptoms or would it not do anything if it was ms related. I'm really hoping it wouldn't help and my symptoms are not ms, any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Steroids have that effect on many people; MS or no. It is hard on the liver so please do be careful with it.
Glad that you are feeling better :). With love, Erika |
This is my first time ever taking presnisone, Im taking it short term for an allergic reaction (30 ml daily for 3 days). I've noticed so many more benefits aside from the limb weakness, it gave me over all energy, my back pain and cramped back muscles diminished completely, I haven't felt this great and lively in years !! I can even touch my toes today for the first time in my life, even as a child I was never able to touch my toes, its so strange. Could it be possible that whatever is in prednisone I am lacking naturally in my body, or are these also common side effect?

IMO, leg weakness could be caused by back problems pinching on a nerve or something...steroids are anti-inflammatory meds, so any inflammation would be reduced.
As written above, steroids are very powerful and destructive to organs. In 5 years with my neuro, he has only prescribed them once. |
You have more energy, because, Prednizone acts as an upper, but
also can make you a nervous wreak, so easy does it. |
prednisone
Hi....yes prednisone is amazing at first ... I take it frequently (too much per my new neuro) but I take small amounts and still after 3 or 4 days it makes me very cranky. So be careful...there are as many bad side affects and there are good ones! but, since you feel good now....enjoy! (I love those days (I used to have) when I felt perfectly fine....no more of those for me).
Good luck! |
