Need some activites to do

I'm living my fourth day today. Syndromes are not so bad; as they come and go, I have headaches and light, sound and odor hyper-sensitivity.

I know I should intellectually rest, but this is difficult for me since all my inside hobbies revolves around writing, watching movies and playing different types of game in which I have to think. So far, I've been cooking, cleaning the appartment, peting the cat, and sleeping. This is getting very repetitive. I cheated a couple of time with television/computer. Worst things I did was trying to play a video game (it obviously took more concentration then I thought) and get out of my place to see a friend who started to talk to me about our short films projects. This last thing completely destroyed me from last night until this morning.

I need some ideas of what I should do to optimize my intellectual rest without getting too bored.

Thanks for sharing in this community.

Give these a try

audio books

gentle music, classical or anything that calms you

listening to the radio --

try doing something with your hands-- folding things, paper,
raking some sand in a little box,

Glue something together if you don't need directions...

Talk on the phone if it's not too tiring

I know it's not easy to think of things to do when you need to do nothing.

Really keep away from the screens and TV or avoid overstimulation as all of that will just set you back.

4 days is not PCS, so take care of yourself and do everything and anything you can do avoid PCS.

Take care,

pm

Use this forum, as much as you can tolerate.

It can be insanely boring resting your brain, but it really needs rest.

I've enjoyed looking at pictures (iPad seems to bother me the least). Reading, TV, computer are out. Short passages give me a headache, like here, so I have to limit myself.

Try things where you can use your hands that aren't too much for your brain to concentrate on...knitting, jewelry making, painting, latch hook, scrapping.

Peace, Jace

If you are only at day 4 after your concussion, you need to stop everything and give your brain a rest. Take quiet gentle walks. Your anxiety level is way too high. Find something slow to do and learn to live a slower life. Your brain will thank you.

As Mark points out you are very early in the recovery process. Take it easy and don't rush things. Petting the cat sounds like a perfect activity. Consider the love you share with each other.

Consider meditation. This can be done in a darkened or dimly lit room which would not aggravate the light sensitivity. Find a comfortable place, preferably sitting. Breathe slowly and deeply; consider how breath is life; we breathe 10,000 times a day without thinking about it.

Attached are some guidelines that may be helpful.

Best to you.
