MS tests
 

Hi, I am wondering if anyone here has had similar experiences and were still diagnosed with MS........ I have been have a lot of issues with weakness in arms and legs as well as dragging my feet when I walk. The Nuro had run several tests including the office exam, nerve conduction test and something else I cannot remember right now...lol.....
All of these had negative results and the Nuro says there is no reason to believe MS is the cause. I have to compleatly self advocate and wonder if I should pursue it further or blame it on fyb to even though my Rhumatologist says that those are not symptoms. Please share your thoughts and experiences.

Some times such testing will not show anything significant; especially at first.
Have you had an MRI? That seems to be the most common 'next step' when symptoms continue and the cause can not be found through other tests.

I would pursue it.
Hope that you get some answers so that perhaps some treatment can be undertaken.

i wonder what your neuro exam showed.
personally i don't like your dr's attitude. he doesn't seem willing to look further than his nose to find out WHAT the problem is.

your sx's (symptoms) don't sound like fibro to me.
what does your pcp say?
IF you have an mri insist on it being with & without contrast. contrast may show any lesions better that without. and the mri is usually brain & the c-spine area of the spinal cord.

please don't think you definitely have MS because you might not. however, i agree with advocating for yourself so your dr doesn't dismiss you.

you might even try a new dr until you find someone who will listen and work to get to the bottom of things. in the meantime start to collect copies of your test results and dr visits. if you see other drs they will want to see your records.

please let us know you make out. and, try keeping a sx journal with dates and the sx's you have. it's a good physical hx for drs.

I don't think your symptoms sound like fibro either. The dragging foot sounds more neurological and could also indicate muscle weakness. Have you been scheduled for an MRI or have had an MRI? I think talking to your PCP regarding this and ask for a referral for a second opinion as well as an MRI (with and without contrast) of your brain and spine (cervical and thoracic).

Also, do you have any back pain at all? A pinched nerve could be the reason for this as well.

Thanks to all that have shared their thoughts here. My Nuro basically refused to do an MRI. The exam showed no muscle weakness and nerve conduction tests wre normal as well. I am searching for a new, PCP, Rhumatologist, since I have moved in the last 6 months and want someone a little closer to home, and not to mention, I do not feel like I am greeting the care I need. I appreciate your feedback.

Tkrik, I have pains in my back but in the muscles, from Fybro....my muscles are like rocks.
I also get shocks in my head that some time go to my arms or legs too.....but it does not occure when I put my head down, like chin to chest. This comes and goes. I find that all of my sympthoms get a lot worse the more fatigued I am. Headaches, performing small tasks with my hands, like picking up a pen, or holding a coffee mug, cognitive issues, can't sleep at night, worse pain ( I am always in pain), I never miss work and I missed 2 days last week! I just could not go any more.
Thanks for listening, I think I will start to gather all of my records and start my search for some new doctors that will dig deeper.

you're on the right track. this may totally not be MS but i think it deserves further investigation.

please let us know how you are. glad you found us, MS or not.
