Bone coming through gum

Had my back molar out last Thursday and now I'm having what feels like tooth or bone coming through. Can this happen and why?

Hi Saffy,

Anytime a tooth is removed it is possible to have bone spurs or small bony fragments that are actually pieces of splintered bone eventually work themselves up and out through the gum. Sometimes they become very sore, other times not so much. If they fall out on their own great, if not then the dentist would need to remove them. It's generally not a big deal to have them removed once they have come through the gum tissue.

Hope this information is helpful to you.
