Eeg ?

My last week EEG did not "look" that bad, although it was classified abnormal. The neuro. said "no epileptiform activities were identified." So did I miss something, or was nothing shown on the EEG? I have seen much worse EEG records. Possibly the activity is buried & just not being seen on an EEG?
I did get ahold of the neuro's nurse & they will squeeze me in next week, but because they have no records from the hospital they would not order me some ativan.

Thanks!

It is not unusual to have an EEG with abnormalities, or normal or with epileticform activities. I have had many EEG's, aEEG's, vEEG's throughout my entire life, and I've been "nicknamed" - Scatter-brained. Typically what a Neurologist does, keep the report on file and schedule another EEG or possibility a aEEG or maybe block you for a vEEG at a hospital depending on how frequent you are experiencing seizures.

Since 99.5% of my seizures are during the night and typically nocturnal, I usually end up with a vEEG instead.

But there are all different types of EEG's from Standard to Quantum (hope I spelled that right).

Hope that helps!

Hi flopper,
If your neuro saw any spiking in the eeg it is abnormal and they can usually find the area of the brain triggering sz. For many yrs. my neuro thought it was my right temporal lobe but when I had a vegg where they placed the electrodes directly on my brain they found sz. activity on the left side of my brain as well. It wasn't until I had brain surgery that they were able to see the brain damage was to deep in my brain for any form of eeg or any test to pick it up. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Thank you Sue. Not much of my brain is left, so they won't have to search very far.

Hi flopper,
I was amazed when I found out that over 70% of our brain we don't even use according to my neurosurgeon. I've had 75% of my RTL and all of my right hippocampus removed and I'm still going strong. Keep your chin up and just remember all of the famous people who have or had epilepsy over the yrs. Take care and May God Bless You!

Sue
