Thanks!

(I know a few "national" pains :D)

Yes it is (Pain Awareness Month). I posted something about it a couple of years ago... September is Pain Awareness Month and it didn't generate much (ok... any) discussion then either. The links in that post are no longer valid.

For some fun (?... NOT) facts to educate/bore/terrorize family, friends, and acquaintances with, try... chronic pain facts :D

Thanks.
I have been putting factoids on twitter every day, absent this weekend since start, for women in chronic pain, and almost no response.
I tried to get media interest the first few years Pa. did the resolution. No one was interested. I wish I had an inkling why that is, maybe because invisible or too many still believe it doesn't exist. ):
Thanks for the link. I am going to use some of those facts.:) Carol

Hi Carol,

IMO, it basically comes down to The Politics of Pain.

Materials Distributed at AAPS 9/18/2004 Briefing to Congress - "Politics of Pain"

"Politics of Pain" Campaign to Defend Patients' Rights

The cultural politics of pain, from Percodan to Kevorkian

and many many more. politics of pain

Thanks for the links. Just looked at one (my pain is eye usage pain so will take me a while to look at more)
The positive thing is that the National Pain Care Act that the house passed years ago but senate let languish for 3 separate sessions has been added to the ACA as an amendment so finally it has been acknowledged and hopefully the monies and research will follow suit.
I lost a doc because he lost his right to write pain scripts - his DEA number I am assuming - he refused to tell me why but I think because he was too compassionate. On the other hand I know a woman who was just found guilty of 172 of 173 counts of illegal prescribing. There is no doubt she did in fact illegally prescribe bu she shouts all over the internet the injustice and how she is being persecuted because she treats pain patients.
If they could separate out the wheat fro the chaff with these docs it would go a long way towards helping us get the treatment we deserve and from docs who know what they are doing and are legit. I wish there was an easy answer, on all levels, including getting out the word.

(BTW if you are interested in trigeminal neuralgia it will be awareness day on Oct 7. I am trying to get visitors to my Utube/Cnn video(s) on my experience and getting them shared thruout the internet to bring more attention to the disorder. Any looking/shares you can/want to do would be great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m13iJC3RVI8 and http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1032817 might as well be my own press release. ((*_*)) )

Putting medicine back in the purview of doctors—instead of bureaucrats and politicians—would IMO be a good first step.

A second would be to end the war on drugs.

YMMV.

Or maybe vice versa ((*_*))[
