Hi
I have Hashimotos and Celiac often goes hand in hand. I had testing done through Labcorp, it appears negative to me but I would appreciate any insight, thank you!! Celiac Disease Comprehensive Test Low Normal High Reference Range Units Deamidated Gliadin Abs, Iga 5 0-19 units Deamidated Gliadin Abs, Igg 1 0-19 units T-Transglutaminase (Ttg) Iga <2 0-3 T-Transglutaminase (Ttg) Igg <2 0-5 Endomysial Antibody Iga Negative Negative Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 327 91-414 mg/dL |
That is a negative result--
--but, then again, it is estimated that up to 20% of BIOPSY proven celiacs may have negative serological work-ups.
The good thing here is that your tests do not seem to have been skewed by lack of immunoglobulin A; in those who do not produce good amounts of that immunoglobulin the other antibody results can be false negative. But you seem to make plenty of it. In the end, though, the only way to DEFINITIVELY say if one has celiac is through small intestinal biopsy. On the other hand, you can go gluten-free, as a lot of people have, and see if your symptoms reduce and you feel better over time, which has happened with appreciable numbers of people; there are people who are gluten sensitive and who don't show serological or intestinal signs of frank celiac, but who do improve on gluten (and often casein) free diets. |
