Holy Rainstorms Batman!
 

We are having a 100 year storm in the Denver Metro / Front Range area. :eek: The clouds have literally been sitting on top of the trees for a couple of days now and not predicted to quit until Monday. Roads, towns and houses washing away. Rockslides, towns landlocked by water. They can’t get helicopters out to get those people supplies because the clouds are so low… it’s CRAZY! They have said that if it had been snow, which would have been possible in just 2-3 weeks, it would have been 12’+. Some trillion gallons have fallen so far. In some cases ¼ inch in FIVE MINUTES. 30’ water surges. Manholes have water spewing up out of them 5’ feet high. Loss of power and clean water in some areas. More rain in a 24 hour period than ever recorded here. They released kids early today from school and have cancelled school for tomorrow (a “rain” day… how weird). Have I painted the picture yet? I've attached some for good measure.

So I think… hum.. I have been hurting like crazy for many days now and this rain and even before it arrived is sure not helping. My family is all good so far. Our home sits on the summit of our neighborhood. I needed to pick up med refills today, and cancelled that because some of the roads on my route were closed, and lights not working, etc. :( I really hope I am able to get there by Saturday, otherwise things are going to get REAL interesting!

Wow! That is crazy weather. And painful weather. I'm so sorry. I really hope you are able to get your meds in time.

Crumbs Vrae :eek: that's awful, I'm glad you are safe. Makes you feel so sorry for those whose homes or businesses are affected...

Take care and go easy on yourself while things are so stressful - I'd be worried too if I wasn't going to be able to get the meds on time! You are right about it affecting your symptoms though - that must have been a massive low pressure system to dump such an immense amount of water. It's mad how powerful natural forces can be :rolleyes:

Wow Vrae! What a horrible storm...no wonder you are hurting more! I am happy to hear you are safe, hope that continues to be the case. Also, hope you can get your meds soon!!

It’s STILL raining. I think this is like day three? This is not over yet. Suppose to be another ½ inch p/hour all day today. The city has slowed to a crawl, if not stopped all together in some places. The governor has declared Colorado a disaster area, and has called in the National Guard and Coast Guard. MANY, many road closures. This morning they closed the interstate (I-25) all the way to Wyoming. They are now starting to get a few of the stranded folks to higher ground or safe places. I can’t take my eyes off the news! My husband did his normal 45 mile (one way) drive to work today (west toward the mountains), while the rest of us are home safe. He normally drives a little tiny car to save gas, but last night I insisted he take the HUGE gas guzzling SUV. I haven’t talked with him yet to hear what things looked like on his way in. I should hear from him soon. I’m looking forward to that, just to know he’s okay.

When it rains and floods, that is bad enough. When it rushes down mountaintops with rocks, mud and debris into towns/cities, well that’s just plain scary! I am really concerned now about rockslides. I think folks forget how you must respect these mountains just like you would the ocean. From what I understand there are a couple of lady hikers stranded in mountain snow. They can’t get to them yet. So when the clouds part and I can see the mountain range again, I guess we will see snow in the high country. There are 160 kids stuck in the mountains at some outdoor ed they were doing. I really feel for those parents, and all the folks who have lost a family member in this (there has been loss of life), and the displaced families who have lost everything in the blink of an eye.

Thoughts of the day: Pause and hug, kiss and love on those you love. We just don’t know what a day will bring. It’s times like these that I pause and say to myself; just when you think you’re having a bad day, there is always someone else having an even worse day than you.

Vrae, I've seen on the news all the flooding you're experiencing there. It's record breaking and so very serious!
I hope you and your family are o.k. and I REALLY HOPE YOU CAN GET YOUR MEDS! All the humidity must play havoc on your CRPS.

It is very serious Az-Di. They are evacuating 2500 people from a small town east of Estes Park in Lyons, CO. Estes has only one way in or out and that would be over a road called trail ridge road that goes over the continental divide to Granby, that is usually only open a couple of months out if the year (summer). Boulder is a mess and no one allowed in or out. Right in my own town Aurora, much flooding, etc. Aurora and Boulder are neck in neck on total rainfall. There are so many creeks, streams, that are now ranging rivers, and well the rivers are not only ranging but they have turned into huge bodies of water. It has washed out so many roads!

And yes, CRPS havoc would be accurate for sure. Thanks you guys for letting me share. Kind of a scary situation for us.

My parents have a Condo in Estes Park. They used to own The danish cone factory outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. Last they heard waters haven't reached up the mountain to their condo yet ( they live in Michigan, but are retiring there in a few years)

Gosh fbodgrl, I really hope their place comes away unscathed. The pictures on the news of Estes don't look so good. Breaks my heart actually. I absolutely love, love, love Estes Park! My husband and I were married there at a very special place for us next to the Big Thompson River. Estes is truly one of my favorite places in Colorado, or on earth for that matter.

I live on the NM/Tx state lines and we got just a toich of that weather system so far. I have been watching it. I feel for everyone up there thatnis being affected by it. I know for me when the weather starts changing I hurt worse. Whether its dust storms or nasty rain or snow. It doesnt matter. The barimetric pressure goes up or down and I feel like climb out of my skin or just lighting myself on fire would be less painfull. I hope you arent too badly affected by it. Also hope you canget the meds and treatments you need even with this going on.
