No wonder why insurance premiums are so high
 

The pre-certification paperwork from Blue Cross today for the nasty stuff they want to do to me. Boy do they kill a few trees. No wonder premiums are so high. My Doctor requested a number of things and for each one they also had:

A title page with just my name (like the mailer cover page for the envelope window)
A page in 6 languages asking me if I could read the letter.
A page with rights available to members

You would think if a doctor requested multiple things at the same time and they are reviewed by on Dr. (at least one name is on all the form letters.) they would send one set.

I dislike paperwork too, and wasted paper. I was quite impressed by the automation/computer usage at my optometrist, but still had paperwork to fill out. The optometrist used a computer screen in the exam room to show me the images taken by a retina scanner, and a cornia topology mapper. She emailed me those images.

Lawyers
 

The United States is the most law suit crazy nation in the world. People file law suits over any thing just watch television and count the number of ads from some law firm telling people they are I entitled to compensation. Doctors and drug companies are prime targets sodoctors do a lot of test for cya drug companies factor in legal cost.
State legislatures could make things better if they made it more difficult to file suits and limit the amounts of settlements by reforming civil tort laws. Texas has done so and I I find cost better here than where I use to live.
