Hi! New to this forum!Does anyone know what adhesions are?
Hi Everyone, I just joined Neuro Talk; looking for any suggestions from anyone who suffers from adhesions. I had surgery in 2008 to remove the adhesions and just last week I was doubling over in pain and ended up in the hospital. I have been told that the only way to get rid of adhesions is more surgery or laporascopy. But, i am thinking that maybe changing my diet may help but, need to find out what kind of foods to stay away from. Any ideas?

Adhesions are a fibrous scar tissue. Cheloids are similar and are found on the skin around scars in some people and not others.
I know when I had some minor surgery at a podiatrist's office in July, one of the questions on the history sheet was do you make cheloids commonly with scars. There are some posts on the Thoracic Outlet forum discussing using pentoxfylline (a drug) to reduce adhesions after TOS surgery. You can search this drug name there and see the other links. This is the TOS forum: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum24.html example: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7633193 This one suggests arginine (an amino acid) to help as well. http://www.researchgate.net/publicat...sion_formation I wouldn't expect doctors to know this however. And I doubt diet can help. |
