I swear some Drs are idiots!
 

I am having my usual knee/leg pain, but now the top of my abdomen around where my stomach is is having sharp pains. I tried calling my Dr and the message said to call labor and ddlivery. I called and they said just take a tylenol and call your dr tomorrow. I told them I have crps, and she said that doesn't matter. What the heck? Am I just making this up? Do I just want to imagine more pain than I am already in so I call about a little gas? This isn't gas. Yet evidently I'm just complaining about anything. I feel nauseous, if I eat or drink anything it hurts worse, yet its nothing to worry about. :eek:

There is no place I despise more than the ER. But there have been times when I know I was not OK to work through it on my own. I would suggest if you get to that point.. and hopefully it's not too far to access. It's tough when stuff happens on weekends, especially on Sundays, but the last place I would trust with RSD is an out patient facility.

On an odd note. The last time I had pain that was so bad I was vomiting violently, they admitted me to Labor and /delivery at the ER in Tucson. I was like 50 at the time, so I would hope that they believed me when I said there was no chance of my being pregnant.

I'm sorry Allanira that you are enduring even more pain than normal and I hope for you and your baby that it ends up being nothing.

You and only you know exactly what your body is feeling and I would certainly trust your gut instincts on this, rather than trust an on call OB.

Regarding CRPS I don't think this does really matter much in the scheme of things right now.. only during delivery should you have a C-section would this come in to play. What does matter is keeping your stress down for the effects this causes on your baby and secondly for your increased pain from CRPS. Can you find a quiet place to relax for a little while to see if it helps?

I took a norco 5/325. I am very cautious about taking it because I don't want Clay born addicted and have to go through withdrawal. I took tums and waited and then the norco. Its giving me a little relief. It just sucks that no Dr around here besides my PM listens. Well except that 1 OB last time I had my appt. If its not a broken bone or a heart attack they tell you take a Tylenol. Like thats the cure all lol. Ugh thats 1 bad thing about living in the country. But I CAN NOT live in the city no matter much more convenient it is. Im a country girl and proud of it. Plus cities make me feel claustrophobic. Like a sardine in a can lol. :eek: I would go ballistic. Talk about goin to an insane asylum. At least this pain has gone down enough to think.

Amen to Dr.'s being idiots in regards to this disease!! So many have never heard of it or pretend to know. The medical assistants and E.R. are worse.

We need so much more awareness out there.

We are the unknown and they don't want to even think that there could be something "new" out there. Even though CRPS has been known longer than most other things like MS and cancer. It was first diagnosed in the Civil War. Ugh I can't wait to get to an area that has more drs that open their eyes and ears than this place. Although it took 10 yrs just to find a dr that knew what I have.

Though I wouldn't go so far as to say all Doctors are idiots, it has been difficult here in Omaha to find a qualified CRPS/RSD Doctor. Thank God I did find one and is willing to learn along with me about how to treat it. As far as the ER, yep. I haven't found one yet that knows anything about our pain syndrome. So while I am busy ailing, I also have to fill them in. Shaking my head.

I didn't say all Drs are idiots just some lol. There are a ton out there that have no knowledge and don't want any knowledge of this condition. They want to stick to what they know. Thats why I call them dry sticks. They don't want to bend and when they are made to they break. Where there are some out there that are willing to make that bend and won't break. I am just talking from my experience. I have dealt with almost 10 yrs of Drs that arendry sticks untill this last February, then I found some that listened to me. There for they bend and don't break. I am just happy that someone listened after all this time. Now I just have to find ones in Alamogordo area that are willing to listen.:D
