Rash From Testostrone Patches

Hello,

My boyfriend was put on Testostrone patches. Everytime he puts his patch on he gets this huge bump and rash where the patch was. He says it itches like crazy. The bumps do not go away for several weeks as he has stopped using the patches and still has some bumps remaining.

Then he tried the cream first and he said that it made his chest hurt. I am not sure if it is because the cream has really strong fumes or what. He told his Urologist about the cream and that is why they wanted to try patches.

Has anyone else had any of this happen?

Do they contain latex? He may be allergic. I'd have him mention it to his doctor.

I used to use some weight loss patches (years ago) and got the same reaction. It is a raised welt, red, hot, and yes... it itches like mad. I agree about checking into a possible latex allergy, but my money would be on an alergy to the adhesive on the patch. It will take a while for the marks to go away, but they will (We are talking maybe a few months).

Mine is so bad that I cannot use bandaids unless it is a particular brand (can't remember what at the moment) and to top it off, they have cute little pictures of Tigger, Poo, the Little Mermaid... etc. I just tell people I have kids. LOL.

On a related note, I just discovered that the adhesive that is used in most patches/bandaids is derived from pine sap. I am very allergic to pine trees, so for me at least, it is a decent explaination as to why I break out.

After a narrow escape from Prostate Cancer ten years ago the Urologist put me on meds to lower my Testosterone. Grrrrrrrrrr. They kept me on them until my readings were off the chart.. at the bottom.

I now take shots every two weeks and my Testosterone levels are almost up to the low end of normal. My wife gives me the shots in the hip.

One man gives himself shots in the thigh (if I remember correctly), but regardless of how we do it, it is a poor substitute for the way we were born. I switched Urologists and they increased the amount of testosterone 50% immediately. My blood test said 232 when 241 is the low end of normal. Very frustrating.

EVERYONE WHO READS THIS --- TELL ALL YOUR MALE FRIENDS, HUSBANDS, LOVERS, WHATEVER, TO GET A BASELINE TESTOSTERONE TEST DONE TODAY, IF NOT SOONER. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT PARTICULAR BLOOD TEST, BUT HAD MY UROLOGIST DONE IT BEFORE SHE "RAN MY LEVELS DOWN" (NINE YEARS AGO NOW) THE DOCTOR WOULD KNOW WHAT TO AIM FOR. MAKE THE APPOINTMENT FOR HIM. NOW. I WAS TYPE A TO THE MAX AND IT HAS RUINED MY QUALITY OF LIFE IN MANY AREAS -- NO ENERGY, NO DESIRE TO REPAIR THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE, ETC. SEX TOO. I AM LUCKY TO HAVE THE BEST WIFE GOD COULD HAVE FOUND FOR ME. DON'T JUST CLICK THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER...AT LEAST WRITE IT DOWN.

 ty dllfo,

i also want to mention with low testosterone the resitance to pain is lowered too.

so ladies, your man may not be wimp where pain is concerned, it could be his testoerone levels are low.

it needs to a routine for men like it is for woman.

Curious, thank you for mentioning the lowered tolerance to pain. As you may have read elsewhere in the forums, I just detoxed off morphine... depending on who you believe, I may still be detoxing since I started July 18, 2008. Anyway, I had to get off the opiates due to
life threatening respiratory problems and signs of "Early Onset Dementia". My dad had Alzheimer's the last few years of his life and I don't want my wife to go through that with me.

Another article I read said people with red hair have been shown to have less tolerance to pain. Who knows? I was truly blessed in that I never liked any opiate and still don't. They are simply a tool to make life more bearable and nothing more to me, but my wife taught Substance Abuse classes in her school district for a few years, so she provided adult supervision for me. I was only on them a few years.

If you took a list of drugs that would cause ED and compare them to the 25 prescriptions I was on a few months ago, you would be amazed. I am fortunate that my recovery from the opiates and my ability to ... uh ... go back to a more normal marriage are coming along nicely. My wife deserves all the good things in life, she has stood by me during some really difficult times. Thanks again...
