Updating...

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to pop by to give some quick(ish) updates. In the spring I underwent intensive insurance reviews. Thankfully the neurologist and the neuropsych were amazing compared to the chiro and the physiatrist who basically said I was lying! The insurance trusted the testing provided by the neuropsych, which showed significant deficiencies in many areas...

I've since started physio, which has really helped, an OT, which is helping to get me attendant care benefits and some equipment, a psychologist to help deal with some PTSD, and now a pain management clinic, whom I just went to today... The MD there had some interesting insights about my injury...

She believes that I had DECREASING intracranial pressure, caused by whiplash which then caused small tears in the dura in my neck... All the symptoms fit, every one. I'm happy on one hand, but frustrated that it has taken 19 months for the diagnosis, and that I had almost no treatment whatsoever for nearly 16 months... But, I guess now that things are getting at least a bit better, I don't want to complain too loudly.

I'm finally able to walk a bit more... say about an hour at a super slow pace. I can lift light things (say 20lbs now?), but still have issues with too much exertion... BUT, all in all, I'm much better than I was even six months ago, which feels like such a blessing.

It's been a long long long year and a half, with now four miscarriages under my belt, the brain injury, and troubles connected to extended family because of the injury... But, I am finally back at work, even if just pertt time, and really loving my new job... I'm now pastor to children and families at a church in the big city (Tdot) and really enjoy it... I just need to learn not to pick up the kids, as I land up with headaches and fatigue if I do!

All in all, I'm beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I don't know if I'll ever be 100%, but I now know that I can figure out a way forward at 70-80% if I need to... but hopefully I'll hit at least 90... if not 100! but I take it day by day, thankful for each day that is headache free, even if it's just because I have modified my life to prevent those headaches! Thankful for each and every blessing that life presents, since I now know and understand how precious health really is.
