Mrs D...had foot X-Ray today and.....

Hey Mrs D

Hope you're doing well today :)

The left side of my foot was just really bad today. Went to ER Alternative and they x-ray'd and said it's my neuropathy. I was pretty upset about that since I really wanted it to be something else. Said I need to keep it up and elevated so my husband is going to help walk the dog...lol

But.....I met a wonderful RN that has previously worked for a pain mgmt. dr who runs a clean office and is a nice dr. So maybe the good Lord sent me there to get that reference since the pain mgmt. dr I saw on Monday had a very dirty office.

Thanks for much for your help yesterday. With my husband's insistence I took my pain pill every 4 hours today and that really helped. I'm just so stubborn about taking them unless I'm really hurting.

Thanks again....Debi

Pain management really is a quality of life issue. If taking your pain meds helps you to enjoy your life and function better it is important to take them. That is their purpose. Do not let anyone make you feel like it is somehow better to suffer and avoid taking meds if they can help you.
Good luck with the new doctor.

Thank You Susann C :)

You so sweet Susann C !

My dr says the same thing as you.....TAKE the pain meds....lol

The foot dr said there is nothing they can do for my feet except pain mgmt. So I'm probably looking at a St Jude neurostimulator. Scares me to death but since I can't drive anymore, grocery shop and so on I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it. I want at least a part of my life back.....see my grandkids play softball and run cross country. Boy I miss those days.

On a lighter note.....the kids are busy so my husband and youngest grandson, who is 8, are going to the grocery store for me tomorrow night. Should be interesting to say the least. Can't wait to see what they come home with :)

You be sweet and I'll talk with you soon.

Such a Beautiful night in Georgia ! I'm loving this cooler weather :)

Whenever my husband would go to the store for me he would always come home without some things. If the kids had gone with him they would say "daddy didn't even look! They did too have it!" It was really funny. He has gotten better at it lately, but my 19 year old on is still a better shopper. I am basically useless the rest of the day if I food shop.

My hubby has always been "shopping" challenged. He doesn't mind doing shopping now for me, and he does alot. But we have found the cellphone invaluable for this task. He will call me sometimes 3 or 4 times a trip! Sometimes he finds a new item, he thinks I'd like and phones about that! He says there are always men in the store, on phones getting advice and clarification too! He has been such a good sport, since I became less mobile, too.

But before cell phones, it was a nightmare...he'd not bring things on the list, or bring the wrong stuff!

Debi.... I am glad you got that Xray. It is best to rule out a broken bone before starting a new treatment. I don't like the sound of your first doctor however, with the "unkempt"office!
Not a good sign IMO. So I do hope your trip opened the door to a new pain management doctor.

Mrs D and Susann C :)

Y'all are so sweet. I just feel the warmth when I read your replies to me :) such a nice feeling.

I'm glad I went last night to the ER Alternative too. They were such nice people and the copay is only $35 when we use them and all the rest is covered. Insurance people are trying to keep us out of the ER at the hospital...lol

I swear I'm out of everything in the kitchen. We do have milk, cereal, canned goods and such but I need so much other stuff. I am out of tea bags and have not have iced tea in 2 days ! That's a sin for a southern woman !

My husband has not been grocery shopping since my daughter was born 28 years ago...lol....he was really not too good about my neuropathy until he went to the pain dr with me and then to the ER Alternative last night. Listening to them was really an eye opener for him. We've been married for 34 years and I've always been the caregiver and everything else for my whole immediate family that consists of 13 people. They all miss "Grammy's" cooking ! And believe it or not I really miss cooking all the stuff they loved. Especially chicken and dumplins. No way I can stand in the kitchen that long.

Anyways.....I've put myself on a pain management plan and this is day 2 and I'm doing ok. Took all my meds this morn plus a 1/2 a pain pill and 1/2 a Xanax and I'm feeling ok right now as long as I don't get up which sucks.

Love to hear from y'all....this is the first time I have EVER communicated with anyone on the internet besides people I know and YOU people ROCK in my book.

Going to Orthopedic tomorrow

My left foot and ankle are still swollen......not like Charcot's but I am going to ask the dr about that tomorrow. This will be my first visit to him. Hopefully he will listen and may even give me more info on my situation.

Saw my 2nd pain mgmt. dr last Monday, I may have mentioned in another post....who knows ? :) Anyway.....I only saw his assistant, she asked questions, did some feeling around and sent me back to the waiting room saying they may change my meds. About 30 minutes later the receptionist called me and gave me a card for an appointment tomorrow. I asked what the appoint was for ? To meet the dr ? And she said no, appoint is for shots.....really ?.......never meet the guy and I'm going to let him stick a needle in my back or wherever ? Don't think so. She said she would talk to the dr and call me on Friday with lots of info. Never rec'd that call so I'm marking my 2nd pain dr off my list. Getting to think pain dr's are not the way for me to go.

Anyway.....aren't there other dr's that do sympathetic nerve lumbar blocks and also the neurostimulators ? Maybe the orthopedic office I'm going to tomorrow ? They have 4 dr's that specialize from head to foot. I'm seeing the foot and ankle one tomorrow.

Oh well.....any comments will be welcome.

Take care everyone !

Debi from Georgia (light rain falling here...about 50 degrees...nice)

Good idea to see a new doctor about the ankle and foot.

The gal we adopted our kitten from in the summer of 2012, on vacation, had a stress fracture that was missed on first Xray.

It showed up an a second Xray, and she took 3 months to heal it up! So it is a good idea to get another opinion.

Good luck.
