It's not always MS

Saw my neurologist at Johns Hopkins Monday for my yearly. Nothing new but he got an eye scan for me as part of a clinical trial to use eye scans to measure MS progession instead of MRI. Scan picked up swelling in retina area. Hadn't bothered me yet, little things happened and I had thought "MS". Nope,Neuro suspects Macular Edema, have appt. with Specialist Opthalmalogist already.

Excellent point! I swear I'm likely to drop dead of a stroke without getting medical care because I'm convinced it is freaking MS. :D

Sorry Kicker. I hope they can stop it or slow it down..

i hope this can be dealt with successfully.

Sorry that this is happening to you :(

I couldn't agree more with your statement though - I always look for reasons that are NOT MS first, then, and only then do I think MS is the culprit - especially if it is something new.

Well I just googled it and it seems to be easily treated so I hope yours is that and a mild case as well. You bring up a great point. I started having leg spasms and back, leg and walking issues and I ask myself, is it MS? Or did I hurt myself?

I hope this will be something minor for you and easily treated and not a future problem.

Hope everything goes well for you Kicker, glad you found it early.

I do agree about putting everything on MS. I've had all these increased problems with my right leg--weakness, pain in hip and back, numbness. Thought it was just my MS. It might be partly MS but I also have a herniated disc that is pressing on the nerve on the right side that effects the hip and leg. Now waiting for more Dr.s appointments and see what treatment might be. You just never know if it is MS or something else.
