Hii! :)
Hi Guys!
New member, but I've been browsing this site as a guest for a years now.:grouphug: You're very sweet and helpful. It's so nice to know that we aren't alone! It can be so isolating, especially re: conditions that aren't well researched or publicized. or if you don't exactly know what's going on... I found NeuroTalk initially after a head injury from 2009. I have PCS/PPCS and the symptoms have not improved. :( Since my head injury, I developed depression, anxiety, ptsd. I had a stint with disordered eating, panic attacks, and am being investigated for ADHD. Lots of stuff. In 2010, I exhibited MS symptoms and was basically told to wait and see... It's so hard to say what's actually going on. I don't know if there's somatization and it's impossible to find answers. Recently, my cognitive struggles have been declining. I'm really concerned. Started losing my sense of time and space and experiencing antegrade amnesia :( I am regularly shocked by the present. I feel so lost and disoriented. I don't know if this is normal and just a part of PTSD... I don't know if I'm actually developing dementia... I'm going to the hospital tomorrow :( Excited to have this forum. <3 |
Hey, Just wanted to officially welcome you to Neuro Talk! I did notice posts you made so you pretty much know your way around. Have you ever revisited the MS possibility? Keep us updated on your visit to the doc today!! Take care and hope to see you around....

And welcome! I'm new here too, and like you, have had post concussion syndrome as well, from several "Mild" traumatic brain injuries via car accidents over the years. I'm really sorry to hear you're still having symptoms and some disconcerting new ones emerging.. Do you mind if I ask what kind of MS-like symptoms? I have also had some symptoms like MS, mostly muscle weakness and muscle twitches, some paralysis that comes and goes, etc. I have another post under the Health Conditions section that goes into more detail about what's been going on for me. Do you have dizziness as well, and have you had any vestibular therapy? Initial thoughts about your situation I have are: ~wondering about whether there was anything new going on just before your MS symptoms appeared, like a new medication, an extra load of stress or a change in your environment? Also, what kind of treatment are you getting for the anxiety, PTSD, etc? ~Do you have a good counsellor? I'd really recommend that, if you can.. find one that feels like you are seen and understood. There are some bad counsellors/psychs out there, and also just poor fits, so it's important to find one that feels right. Try to find one that feels right and that does EMDR to heal trauma. Also, craniosacral therapy is great for this, especially if you've had a blow to the head.. the bones need to be gentled back to their original positions, or there is cranial pressure. Craniosacral therapy also can help the nervous system recover from the shock and trauma. ~Please consider trying Bach Flower Remedies for the anxiety and ptsd symptoms, and just for comfort when things are hard. Rescue Remedy is a good one, only about $12 at the health food store. Dealing with PCS is stressful, just the stimuli of movement and sound can be overwhelming sometimes. ~Please consider trying to eat and drink very cleanly and carefully.. organic foods, try and cut out sugar and caffeine, these things hit my system like a truck after PCS, and compound the stress we are already dealing with. Is your water fluoridated? Please consider finding a source for clean spring water that has no fluoride in it as fluoride crosses the blood brain barrier in people with brain injury, and can definitely disrupt already compromised cognition. Drinking enough clean water can really hep with brain stuff, and especially taking some organic coconut oil every day throughout the day, like at least a tbsp with each meal kind of thing. *Also please be aware that because of this now broken blood brain barrier, you're going to be incredibly sensitive to any alcohol or drugs (including meds), and also to food additives and chemicals like MSG and "natural flavours" in restaurant and convenience foods. Please see this online presentation for more info on that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQQGkMhjWig Also please keep in mind that your brain is healing all the time. It sounds like something is going on now that is overwhelming your system and keeping it from getting back to balance. It can be really heard to figure that out when you're not feeling well, are overwhelmed and not sure what's what. Meditation is extremely helpful for calming the mind and also the body. First make sure your brain is not getting things thrown at it that are hurting it (as above), then you'll have an easier time calming it down and it will get the rest it needs. Once you can help your brain and nervous system settle down, it can start healing. You will see more and more recovery over time. I hope your appointment is helpful! Let me know how it goes. :hug:T |
