Depo-Testosterone Question
 

I've been taking shots of this for a long time now, and recently I've had to stop because I can't afford to have my urologist do a check up on me.

What are the effects of not having this medicine? My body can't produce Testosterone because I lost both of my testicles.

The effects should be the same as for primary hypogonadism in males.

...and others (e.g. weight gain, depression, irritability, changes in cholesterol, et al).

I would not expect all symptoms to appear immediately; some may be noticeable within a week or so, and some slowly over time.

Can/will your PCP take on routine monitoring for you (to be referred to a urologist, endocrinologist, etc) if/when necessary?

I'm going to go to my primary care doctor next week to see if he can do blood work, and see where I am.

I am divorced, so my sex life has decreased. I haven't had sex in 2 years now, which I don't mind honestly. I've noticed that my sex drive has decreased for the last two months as well. I also have multiple sclerosis as well. I take Zoloft and Gabapentin everyday.

Is it safe to be off testosterone shots for a long period of time?

The decrease in sex drive doesn't bother me, and I wouldn't mind losing the hair on my body lol because before, the shots made me hairy.

That's the $64,000 question. It's not just about sex & vanity; proper hormone balance (not just testosterone, but that's a biggie) can be just as important to health as getting enough vitamins.
