Post srs partial seizure
 

Hi all. My wife had a tumor removed from her brain in early October. Symptons were mild partial seizure effecting right side of her face. Surgery went great with no side effects. Amazing. Then she had 1 radiation treatment as a follow up and the next day had a fairly strong partial seizure effecting the same areas and her speech as well. There's still some twitching in her face 3 days later and is still in the hospital. I feel bad asking about this given what most of you go through but here goes. Does anyone know if those symptoms will dissipate?

I'm sorry to hear that your wife had a tumor, I have friend that had the same problem and after the surgery he had seizures do to the fact of the nerves in the brain recovering along with swelling of the brain this could be what's going on with your wife and it take a little time to heal. I've had brain surgery done twice to reduce my seizures and each time after the surgery I have had more seizures from the surgery and then things calmed down. Be sure to let your wifes Dr. know what's going on.
A persons speech is on the left side of the brain and since the surgery was done on the right side this could be affecting your wives left side of her brain and causing the seizures and speech problems. Check it out with her Dr. and get her on vitamin B12 1000 mcg. once a day vitamin B12 helps calm a persons nerves down and it has stopped many seizures for me. Thanks for your reply sue. Tumor was actually on the left side thus affecting the right side of her face. Ironically there were no side effects from the surgery but the one time srs radiation treatment caused this. I was just concerned about how long it's taking the lingering effects of the seizure to go away as its been 3 days now. It is getting better every day but she wants to go home!

Hi Jonasl -- I started having sz in 1990 (when I was 46 years old) caused by an oligodendroglioma II tumor in my left temporal lobe but the MRI was mis-read so I wad diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy.
Finally, in 2005, the tumor was found and I underwent every available test. Surgery was done Feb., 2006 and I did not have another sz until May, 2006.
A second surgery was done and I haven't had a sz since then!
I'm with a great hospital - Barnes Jewish which is part of Washington U in St. Louis. I go back every year for a MRI check-up.
What I'm trying to say .... I hope you are with a great hospital - that;s the most important thing.
