Morbidity Rate for Surgery
Anybody know the morbidity rate for TOS surgery??
|
As in died on the table?? or soon after??
I would think very rare, unless you happen to go to horrible surgeon/hospital.. |
I would not even put a thought like that in my mind. I only try to look at thinks in a positive manner

Morbidity and mortality are different.
If I understand morbidity correctly, the rate I've been quoted by Vascular Surgeons and TOS specialists is 50%. Obviously, many factors go into increasing or decreasing this rate, but it's an average. |
My understanding is that the morbidity rate (rate of injury and complications resulting from surgery) is fairly high. That, along with the lack of a definitive gold standard diagnostic test -- makes this surgery somewhat controversial for many....

I got them confused :o:eek: [Definition: Morbidity refers to the state of being diseased or unhealthy within a population. Mortality is the term used for the number of people who died within a population] http://www.diffen.com/difference/Morbidity_vs_Mortality |
