Newbie with Worsening Conditions

Hello!
I decided to look for some support after a few years of suffering concussions. I am 18 (obviously young) and suffered 4 concussions in a little less than a year. I play competitive women's lacrosse and suffered two concussions on the field. I have some gnarly footage of one. Anyways, because of financial issues and my own stubbornness I never visited a doctor. One concussion was severe I did loose conscience, while the other three left me senseless for a week or so.

I know this is not a diagnosis forum, but with some arising issues with my cognitive abilities, I'm coming to conclusion that it's time to visit a neurologist and was hoping to find some support while I search for the right doctor.

I have been concussion free for about a year. However, despite my resistance, certain symptoms have remained or gotten worse:
I am finding that I can't or barely can remember events that happened more than a year ago. Directions are extremely difficult for me and I am constantly forgetting little things.
I have developed a stutter and can't find the right words when speaking allowed.
My peripheral vision has narrowed or I have a difficult time seeing objects in that line of sight.
I am now forcing myself to concentrate on day to day activities like doing school assignments, watching movies and especially reading.
I can spend hours learning material, review it, but then when a test comes around I cannot access the material I know.

That's just a little introduction into my life. The last three months I have noticed I am struggling excessively and it's affecting my relationships and my own esteem. While I know a neurologist is the next step, I have a few questions that I was hoping you guys could help with.

Has it been too long? Have I waited too long to receive any sort of treatment?
Is this just a phase? Will my memory and speech improve at all? Are there certain changes in my life that I can make to help their improvements?
And, what has helped you get through?

Thank you so much! If I'm posting in the wrong thread or should direct my questions else where please let me know!

xx. Swank16 :)
