Finally diagnosed

Finally have a diagnosis as of 10/25/13. Started having resting tremors in right hand with shuffling gait & loss of smell about 3 months ago. What looked like Myasthenia because of drooping eyelid, fatigue muscle weakness etc. turned out to be Parkinson's Disease. Found a Movement Disorder Specialist who confirmed it right away and he was only about 40 miles away. I am on Carbidopa/Levodopa which proved it when it really helped with my symptoms. Feel so much better now because of meds & finally having a diagnosis. I guess sometimes it takes time for some diseases to truly reveal themselves. Thanks everyone & good luck.

So glad you have a diagnosis and meds that are helping! Thanks so much for updating us!

Hate that you have Parkinson's, but putting a name to it helps. Now you can get the right meds. Happy for you.

At least now I know what I'm dealing with now and can take the right steps to help get on with my life. Not knowing all this time was the worst. Will work with the Doctors & Therapists and keep going on. I guess it's just another chapter in the book of life. The good thing is I now appreciate the little things.
Thanks for the replies & the good thoughts.

I think it is very much appreciated when people come back and share their news like you have.

I found your story very interesting, and your diagnosis a surprise.

Sorry you have a disease but happy you know what it is and can move forward instead of round and round in everlasting diagnostic circles.

I wish you a good response to medications and better days in the not too distant future.

Looking back, I guess it sometimes takes time for a Neurological Disease to develop enough for a difinitive diagnosis since they have closely related symptoms. Have an appointment for a swallow test & physical therapy later this week. Will keep you updated.

Not sure about my vitamin D levels, but had so many blood tests in the last year I'm sure they checked it. I am on L-dopa which is really helping.
