Blair Upper Cervical Adjustment

has anyone had this done by a chiro?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdnMNhPnYhY

if yes, any problems afterwards?

My chiro used a similar technique as well as regular adjustments, no problems from it, went to him for many years for my chronic RSI/TOS/myofascial pain.

Was the chiro that you went to a highly skilled practitioner?

Blair appears to be a wellness chiro philosophy. There is far more to the body than just the upper cervical vertebra. Chiros who do upper cervical plus treat the whole body/spine are more valuable in my view.

Hi Mark.
I just read your post about chiropractors who treat the entire spine. I wanted to offer some information. I am not a chiropractor or am offering this information to gain anything expect to let you know what I've learned from suffering many years from many different diagnoses including a couple of concussions when I was younger. I've seen many doctors and many full spine chiropractors 12 to be exact and had many "diagnoses" before seeing an upper cervical chiropractor. This time last year my body was so stiff (fibromyalgia one of the diagnoses) along with other problems I won't go into but, the point is please do some research on how it really does help. None of the "full spine chiropractors" helped me and they all told me you could never regain any of the curvature in cervical, thoracic or lumbar spines and they could only help with symptoms. Basically once the curvature is gone it's gone for good and one told me they could just help by causing my spine not to degenerate anymore. Then, I found an upper cervical chiro that practiced the Blair technique. I've been seeing him for over a year. Not only am I able to walk now and my symptoms are going away but they can heal your entire spine within 5 years and you can regain all the curvature back= out of pain or less pain. It fixes the entire spine not just the neck. Imagine if you were stacking blocks if the first or second one is not straight all the others you stack will tobble. Same thing with our spine as gravity forces down on that little dimple in the top of your head is not sitting in the grooves of your atlas everything above and below compensates. and will twist and bend in order to keep your eyes level with the horizon= pain. If the atlas is fixed everything below that lines up. I'm so thankful to have found one of these doctors they really have changed my life. I'm not trying to do anything but help because I don't like to see people suffer and I can only offer what hell I went through. I'm still in pain but 50% or more better and hopefully within the next couple of years I will be better than I was. Just do some research if you are seeing a symptom chaser what I call a full spine chiropractor lol sorry they just remind me of regular docs who are fighting symptoms. I can't promise that this will even help but I've seen alot of specialist and chiros and this I knew was different the after the first adjustment. Particularly, the blair technique (seen some other upper cervicals who used different techniques and while they are all after adjusting the atlas Blair believes not everyones skull is symmetrical and its not) so the adjustment is tailored specifically for your head not math for the majority of skulls. Just trying to offer information and then you can decide for yourself. Hope this helps. Please just do some research on how its different. Hope life finds you well very soon.

Anniefreefriend,

I have been treated by a NUCCA chiro, a Gonstead chiro, an Activator chiro, and Palmer and Diversified trained chiros. I have been treated by 18 different chiros. Only 4 were truly able to improve my health.

I do believe the spine has great impact on health. I had strep throat that was not healing. The day they cultured by throat, I stopped by the chiro. He adjusted me at the spleen level ( a chronic problem) and I spiked a fever and broke the fever within 6 hours.

I am a believer in chiro but not a believer in chiro as the key to wellness.

Blair upper cervical is not much different from other upper cervical chiro. The NUCCA chiro still needed to treat my T4 level.

BTW, That dimple you mentioned is the occipital condyle. Mine was injured 14 years ago and has been difficult to treat.

I know a wellness chiro who was such a believe that he delivered his first born at home, never took her to be examined by a physician, and the poor little girl did not make it to her 1st birthday.

My full spine chiros that were true healers kept me in good health for over 2 decades. No illnesses that I could not heal from within a day or two except the strep throat (it took longer to heal because I delayed in seeing the chiro).

Here in Idaho, the major health plan allows $800 per insured per year in chiro benefits. Just about every chiro has a practice based on maximizing this $800. The NUCCA chiro was focused on billing as a priority over healing as the priority.

Your post reminds me of what my favorite chiro calls "Show and Sell." They dazzle you will technical details and anecdotes of miraculous improvements. You can see the same videos playing in thousands of chiro offices across the country. Blair has their video NUCCA has theirs. Atlas Orthagonal has theirs. The Palmer video is the most common.

I would struggle to continue seeing a chiro with a 5 year plan. The ligaments and tendons that support the spine only need 6 weeks of proper spinal alignment to properly support the spine. Learning good posture, sleep discipline and body mechanics are also needed for the spine to correctly strengthen.

A factor in my use of chiros over the years has been the fact that I had to pay out of pocket for almost all of my chiro treatments. This puts a higher level of critique on the cost-benefit concept. Working with chiros who respect my financial limits has given me opportunities to learn more about chiro directly from the chiro. My all time favorite chiro was chairman of Life Chiro College West and taught in seminars from coast to coast.

If I could not get a T4 treatment when needed but instead needed to wait for the upper cervical treatments to empower T4 to self-correct, I'd have been out of work and in the poor house.

So, nobody will ever convince me that upper cervical can solve the whole body's needs from a chiro perspective.

But, you are entitled to your own opinion based on your experience and information.

My best to you.

perhaps i was not clear...

and i would like to clarify my position based on my experience with a chiro that uses the Blair Technique...

and would like to make my point crystal clear...

my life changed in an instant by a chiro that performed this for me, and i have come to learn that i suffered multiple concussions to my brain stem and i am nearly completely debilitated...

this technique is extremely risky and should not be performed...anyone that is offered this as treatment for the wide range of problems chiros claim it will cure should run for the hills...

i learned a very tough lesson...do not allow anyone to touch your neck like this, and never, never, never allow a chiro to do this adjustment to you for any reason...

if you do, you are taking a huge risk on quackery and snake oil.

it is irresponsible and shameless that a chiro would do this in exchange for cash...they are worse than a whore, because with a whore you at least know what you are gonna get...

i was scammed for some beer money and i am now:

Did that chiro do any x rays or see a MRI before treating you?

Mine required x rays before treatment.

I'm sorry you ran into a bad DC and had the resulting bad outcome..

It is a good warning to always assess ands check out any doctor of any kind before seeking care.
