Wayyyyy...ot

but am i ever on topic for long?

i need input..advice.

we have had our house up for sale since feb. crappy realtor. very crappy.

final straw today. i was in the shower and grandmonkey keep yelling there was somebody to see the house. i figured he heard a message on the answering machine. no biggy..that gives me an hour. ( it's a booking agancy that the realtors call. they then call us..to verify and give the ok)

he keep yelling. i wrap a towel around me. there are people in the house! just in the foyer...but still. who knows what could have happened to grandmonkey?

so needless to say i was freaked out. they left. wouldn't you? screaming monkey wrapped in a towel? :p

i call the booking agancy. my realtor had relisted the house with a new price..and gave an old disconnected number and she has mistyped in our email addy. they couldn';t get a hold of us and assumed the house was empty.

so i canceld our contract iwth her. this was the 3rd time people had just walked in because of her errors.

so...i need advice or input on selling your house yourself. stuff like closing...legal stuff. my house is show ready already.

thanks bunches.

Hiya Curious!

I would caution anyone wanting to sell his/her own home these days. There are so many details from financing to closing costs. I've seen quite a few folks get hit with unexpected expenses because they didn't have all the information.

Is there any way you can try to deal with a new real estate rep? Not all of them give bad service like this one did.

Be well,
Ceci

hi ceci. thanks for reply.

hubby and already have some interviews set up.

some of the new "broker" offices are kinda cool. they help you with selling your home yourself, but do all the closing. the commission is 1-3% of the sale price. it all depends on if you find your own buyer. they also will look.

but all the legal stuff is what scares me. i talked to a title company. the lady said it is actually pretty easy. but easy for her mightnot be easy for me.

Hi Curious, I have had friends use the help-u-sell realtor and really liked it and it saved them money. Having people in and out of your house really must be hard. I have never sold a house, I tend to settle in and hate change.

I lived in my parents house till I moved in with hubby and we have been in this house for over 16 years now. My daughter said I will probably be here till I die just like Nana did. You know what...she is probably right:D ...Sue

thanks sue. so far that seems the best route.

i really don't want one of those lock boxes on my door again. talking to a broker today, he said we wouldn't have to. it can cut down on the showing, but i would rather feel safe.

Same here Snoozie. The only house I ever "bought" was the house I grew up in. I bought my sister's half rather than sell it and share the money. It was an emotional decision, not a smart decision. I never bothered inspecting the house - should have been torn down a long time ago. :o

It's kinda freaky to live here sometimes, especially when bad memories recur. Unfortunately, we weren't able to do much renovating. Bad enough to have the memory, even worse to be located at the same spot. :( Still, it's home, and I can't imagine living anywhere else. Not sure if my dad would allow non-family members to live here either. He might haunt them. :p

Aaaaanyway, Curious

I don't blame you for not wanting strangers walking into your home like that - yikes! I hope you'll find a buyer soon, and I hope the whole process goes smoothly.
