Peripheral Neuropothy and Itching!

I have PN in my extremities from a pinched nerve and it seems to be causing itching. Has anyone else experienced this?

Itching for me is a symptom like all over burning that comes and goes. It is a side effect of some of my medications, but I have had it from before I started those, and my father had it as well, more severe than mine, but my sensory loss is more profound. We have / had hereditary neuropathy.

Hi gruvingal,

Itching (when severe, it's called pruritus) is not uncommon with PN and/or nerve impingements. I've also heard it sometimes called neuropathic itch/pruritus.

Itching drives me crazy !

Hey gruvinhal......I have it on and off but when it's 'on' it's severe. I have scratched myself bloody before I realized it.....feet, legs and hands are what itch the most.

I have read before that itching is a form of pain--and we all know about pain and pn.

I have had itching, so severe I drew blood too. Benadryl cream helps somewhat.

My symptom started with severe itching all over my body. Later on, the itch became pain: prickly, "pins and needles", electric zaps, sensitive to touch.
