I just read articles on PN being caused by taking carvinidol. I take 25mg a day have been taking it for 10 months. The reason I was diagnosis with A-fib but have had no episode inb10 months. Has anybody taking carvinidol experienced any problems.
I am wanting to see if my doctor will switch my meds

This is a beta blocker. There is no listing for it as problematic specifically for PN. However, it is listed as a beta blocker as rarely but possibly causing drug induced lupus.

I had a severe reaction to lisinopril (an ACE inhibitor), and it caused swelling, breathing difficulty, lupus rash, severe GI problems, and I had to have it changed. I now take a low dose of atenolol, which is a beta blocker. While this is also a rare risk for lupus, I don't seem to have a problem with that now. ACE inhibitors are far more likely to cause drug induced lupus and reactions than your drug.

Your dose is pretty high for the Coreg, you might ask for a dose reduction, and see if that still works at a lower dose. Coreg comes in 3.125mg, 6.25mg, 12.5mg and 25mg. There is an extended release form also with different strengths.

If you are taking a statin, that would be far more problematic than the Coreg IMO.

Do not discontinue Coreg suddenly....it must be tapered down slowly to avoid shocking the heart.

I do not take a statin don't even take red yeast rice. I was on lisinopril but asked to change I feltbit was not working any more. The coreg was given when I was diagnosed having afib doc tried lower dose of coreg in conjunction with lisinopril but it wasn't enough so he bumped me up to 12.5 bid. The electrophysiologist said that was average dose but had to drop lisinopril to low bp.
I type in coreg+PN there was article ssying FDA had changed their warning to include PN as a side effect.
I was tested for lupus and RA both were negative

Drug induced lupus does not show up on regular lupus testing.
(ANAs may be normal)

The testing for it if your doctor understands this..(which mine did not) : very complicated antibody testing....
