Any Thanksgiving plans, eating in or out?

Guess we'll eat at my son's. we usually deep fry a turkey. I am buying frozen pumpkin pie and Apple crumb. Frozen dinner rolls in the iron skillet is about as fancy as I will get and sausage and celery stuffing.

We eat later, about 4:00PM.
Nice to be with all the kids at one time and grandson.
Quiet holiday, try to relax amidst the cooking prep.

Hi, Di,

That is a good menu.
My sister's husband fries turkeys for Thanksgiving.
I have heard that they taste better . . . also that they cook fast.

You menu will be fabulous.
Have fun.
And give enough chores/ tasks to the others. :D

Hubby and I have a dinner guest that Friday but we are not doing anything traditional.
I usually expect to have a piece of pecan or sweet potato pie this time of year.
I want to make sure I pick some speculator (frozen brand / good restaurant . . . ?) in order to make it worth while.

This year Thanksgiving is with my family.

Derrick and I will travel to Kokomo to help my mom with preparations,
on Tuesday after he gets off work.

It is always a great time in Kokomo.

I'm hoping all my son's can come this year.
I know that Devin and Will are planning to come.
Still trying to get a commitment from Danny and would love
it is ethan comes too.

Sounds lie great plans. Bizi that is great for a share, holidays are difficult for those away from family or alone.
Holidays are still difficult, but with the dgs and older kids, they need memories. I guess we will shop for the food by the end of the weekend.

I love the deep fried turkey Mari! They do cook in about an hour and twenty minutes or a huge 18 lb. I think it is 6/8 minutes a pound. It's a guy thing. The outside is very crip and taste like bacon, the inside is dripping moist. My problem is no ne really eats the. Dark meat...well the cats do, but they pass gas afterwards!

I need to find my electric knife.

turkey salad sandwiches?

Hey Di,

Maybe you can shred the dark meat, and make turkey salad out of it, for sandwiches? It should work well for that because it is less dry. The stronger flavor will be masked by the mayo and any vegetables (pickles, onion, bell pepper, or whatever you put in it). I sometimes do this to "finish off" dark chicken meat.
